Oh! You mean 'Fanatic' in the dysfunctional sense of the word?
Then you go talk to 'Normal People' about your guitars and say things like;
"It has a real CWK signature." or
"It is Number 6 outta maybe 40 made. " or
"It was a special order, they only made 24 of them!" or
"They only made this model for less than a year."

And the Normal People are saying "And you paid What for that?"
[Don't worry, I can send it back to the factory, and for $600 it'll be good as New! ]

By luck I saw Henry's second CL ad 15 minutes after he posted it. Fortunately I kept his phone number from his first CL listing.

Fantastic, it will be local.

Now I'll have the opportunity to torture myself for hesitating and talking myself out of it when I saw the BIN on EBay at $1200.00.

He who hesitates......

Great catch Iffy!

I called Henry on his first CL ad and made an offer. By that time he had put it on eBay and wouldn't deal. This was before he changed his description. I wrote if off at that point.

But when I saw the second CL listing, posted yesterday @ 4:30 PM, I called again. After he checked eBay and saw that a bid had erased the BIN, he contacted me and sold me the git later last night.

Tim,
Did you contact him also? He did say someone else wanted to buy it. He said since I called first it was mine if I wanted it?

jstout,
Hey, no prob! It's still on CL, so any one could have found it. Besides, one thing to remember about CL sales, normally only two people know what the final selling price was... So ya might have been the 'other guy'!

Why do I get the feeling that there was some HIGH-stakes gackground activity in all this?!?!?

A little bit of bluffing...a little bit of legerdemain... a little bit of misdirection. I'm guessing that Iffy ended up with a GREAT guitar for a song! Congrats, Iffy!

<chuckle> Sure does appear like I'm guilty of all the above... But if ya check the time line, I had given up on it twix the two CL listings. After Moody, Beal and Mike chimed in, I thought,"Great, missed out on another one!"

But the second CL listing was the 'green restart flag'. Some of us here have encouraged folks to use that phone. That was what made the difference this time, two calls.

I will not ever use subterfuge to obtain a git. I'm just not that way. BUT, I will walk through doors that others may not find or choose to ignore...

So, yes...

Yes, I was the other party iffy. Henry sent me an email and apologized this morning. I just was working through most of the weekend and as they say, timing is everything. I kicked in a higher offer for more than you paid on ebay late Saturday night but that darn increment system just took it to the next bid higher than the standing bid. I missed that there had been a BIN, good thing too because I was several hundred over that :)

Congrats & enjoy! Hope to get a chance to play her at one of the SSJ's.

Tim,

Wow, that makes the acquisition even more interesting!

Just to clarify a bit, I never did bid on the Ebay listing. He had the CL ad out first and that's when I first called him. Then everything went blurry on eBay and I gave up.

It was that second CL ad that I responded to yesterday that did the deed. In fact, he was out bass fishing when I called him yesterday PM.

When he got back in and checked his ad, he saw that the BIN was negated. That's when he contacted me. I PP'd him at 10:37 last night.

So, yes, the timing was incredible!

BTW, his email to you was very considerate. Not many folk would do that 'out dere'.

The actual condition of the git will determine if I bring it to the SSSJ (OK) or she goes right on up to the MS (not OK).

Thanx for your understanding!
