Bowl does feel thin, and the finish on the bowl is different than any of my other O's ... seems thinner and somehow smoother and less "pebbley" but it's hard to really describe it given I only had a few minutes with it. The s/n seems to be printed on the headstock and not embossed?? Did you also notice the truss rod adjustment hole on the bracing inside the soundhole ... although I think the truss rod adjustment is at the headstock. The top is absolutely gorgeous in nutmeg. Schaller tuners, not Pings! You're right Tony, nice voice! I'm stoked ... the only downside is I have 18 days to wait until I can really put it through it's paces. :(

I'm just an idiot who buys guitars instead of living ( ;) ), but I thought dual action just meant that it adjusted two directions, not that it adjusted from both ends. Maybe a primer on how dual action truss rods work is in order.

I did a pretty extensive web search and got a lot of info about how a dual action truss rod adjusts both directions, but I did not find anything at all which shows or even alludes to adjustment nuts at both ends. I went to the Ovation site and checked out their pictures of the LX series (with the dual acting truss rod) ... they only had a picture of an Elite style neck but there was no adjustment nut at the body side of the neck, only at the headstock. Dumb and getting dumber. :o

It's possible to adjust the relief from both ends of the rod but, the main purpose is to change the length of the adjustment area to facilitate use with different scale lengths.

Have never seen Ovation's adjustment instructions for the dual rod. As I had the trc off of it, definitely ability to adjust at the headstock.

Brings back bad memories of trying to synchronize dual Webers on my old 356. To get it right required either a really good mechanic or hours of aborted attempts, backfires, and cussing. MIB ... I'll send it to you as long as Al assures me the results of your work will be covered by the factory Warranty. :-) P.S. Did you see the story on the Cayman in Road & Track this month?

Fortunately, it's basalt black and my wife doesn't like black. I really like the new Boxster. Only 7 more years till the kids are out of college. I get the dual carb analogy. Put them on a VW van and it only ran right for a couple hours after that.
