Sally, the thought of you sitting in your trailer, playing your Ovations and selling your wares is almost too much....

According to what I've been able to root out, you are one of: a CFO for the USDA in Spokane, WA; a Lasik surgeon in Salt Lake City, an anthropologist in CO; or possibly something entirely different.

Perhaps you are all of these. Kind of a feminist Frank W. Abagnale.

I think you're also likely to be an Ovation enthusiast.

Well, you know she lives in Colorado so that should rule out at least two of those.

Just a brief injection on the original topic...I think there are probably a bunch of people who have become "members" of the OFC just to try to sell a guitar. When they're done they go away. I don't like that.

Were I to make a serious attempt, I would rule out all of those. Except "possibly something entirely different" and "Ovation enthusiast".

I'll go back and be quiet again...

For all the curiousity seekers, I would have posted a link to my website... but the sucker is down right now. I was moving the domain to a new server this week, and obviously something has gone wrong.

Stay tuned....

Interesting week. Miles gets the Photo Gallery back up (THANKS!) and all of our personal sites go down. Coincidence ???

I have seen some boards make people wait a certain time limit, 30 to 60 days, after registering before they're allowed to post for sale ads. Sometimes, they also include participation minimums, like posting in five threads during this time limit, before posting for sale ads. This substantially reduces the "I registered just so I can sell" participants.

Have we come up with a clear answer on listing items for best offer versus a set selling price?

If I decide to put a couple of my guitars up for sale this year (emphasis on if), I will give OFC'ers the first chance.

I will put out my minimum price, a short time frame for offers (? 48hrs), then accept the highest offer over my minimum. If requested, I will publish the last offer that I received so that someone can up his or her offer if desired. Then, if not sold, either sell locally or eBay.

I remember several guitars (to include a long neck Adamas)that the "seller said make me an offer". For the Adamas, I think I offered $1,650. Seller acted as if I insulted him. Believe it sold for about $1,900.

Couple of guitars, the seller listed his price...as I was the first to meet his price (within 15 minutes of his listing) - sold. Yet, some of us can remember one sale where another OFC'er would have paid higher than my offer.

Tony, Starting (minimum) price, highest offer. Isn't that an auction?

Bruce...kinda, that's my point.

Especially since I've never been "silent"

But if you sell them use the proceeds to buy something nicer, it really helps you quickly forget about the loss.

Recent activities:
Sold 05 Collector, bought CLCB
Sold CLCB, bought CLCB slothead
Sold 1681, bought U681
Sold D18VS, bought HD28VS
Sold Artist 1121, bought John Lennon Legend

None of these upgrades were bank breakers and I don't really miss the ones I sold because the ones I replaced them with are so nice to have.

Tony - That is exactly what I was talking about doing when I started this thread. It sounds like the majority is against it but I still don't see the problem or the difference from what has been done in the past with no complaints.

Ha ha ha. But here is a TRUE STORY. A few years ago on a plane I sat next to a guy who was a salesman for "Neuticals". They are plastic balls in verious sizes that get implanted in male dogs who have been castrated. He explained that althrough the dogs were still sterile, having neuticals at least helped them maintain their self esteem and walk through the neighborhood with their heads held high. I asked if he had any samples with him, but sadly he did not. I kid you not, this is a true story. Dave

I've read about them and thought it was pretty funny but my question here is why were you interested in samples, Dave? You know you can hold your head high here despite, well, you know...
