For the last one (from San Diego) that Mike got - there was some discussion of a time share. Tough part of that much travel is damage.

I had thought of the "end of each round, we put it up for sale" - my thoughts were to allow a "share holder" to get out, his/her share bought by the other shareholders or allow someone from outside to buy his/her share. It would require the shareholders approval of the new member. Personally, I don't know if the magic number of shareholders is 2, 3, 4, or 6. Heck, with 6 shareholders, USPS/FedEx/UPS would have it for about 6 weeks a year just for shipping. And, if damaged, it would never be the same. Better if shareholders are in the same area and it could be handed off.

 I'm not sure I like the idea of y'all passing #45 around like a common street sl&t...

(then again, for $9K, I guess that'd make me the pimp)

OK. Go ahead!!! :D

At the end of each round, we put it up for sale within the club. If it doesn't sell, then it goes back around.
That sounds like the best plan yet; I'm in!

It COULD work, but the idea of a timeshare slothead reminds me of the time a bunch of guys asked me to jump in with them and buy a ski boat. Luckily I said no. None of them are on speaking terms anymore and the boat is long gone.

Keep in mind that it'll cost you about $125. to ship and insure a $9000. guitar, So $1125. for the honor of playing a slothead for 7 weeks out of a year and a half? Sure, you'll get it back if the group resells the guitar. But it sounds a lot like the ski boat.

Not trying to nix the deal, just warning you to go in with both eyes wide open.

Dave

You know, I seriously thought about this guitar for a little while. I could sell my OFC slothead and cover almost half the cost. The trouble is, I'd end up with a great museum piece that I really couldn't take out and play anywhere without being paranoid. This is a great guitar that needs to be enjoyed along with one's other great guitars, not instead of one's other great guitars.

You had me dreaming for a week now, but I just can't talk myself into it, so I didn't even bother with SWMBO. Can't see having this and the OFC guitar. I'd probably end up storing this one in the case. Hope somebody in the OFC can swing it.

It makes a lot more sense than having 2 of a lot of other things. It must be nice to have one of the original Slotheads, but to have 2 of them would be really, really special.
