That 1537 is the deal of the century. Anyone who hasn't owned on of those monsters would be in for a surprise!!

Blues, I cringe about what I'm going to say, but here goes, have you thought of puttin 'em out on the Bay?

I can't remember the last time I saw a UTE there and it's been awhile since I saw a 1537. Really a shame that an OFC member doesn't jump on either of these, especially at those prices.

I already have a UTE and would have jumped on tha 1537 if not for a recent Adamas acquisition.

Careful Moody. People have gone to jail for soliciting p*ssy on the internet. LOL Sorry... blame the Wabbit. He dragged me over here. And Beggin and g8r were helping push!

Straight through the heart, Blues. Does it play as sweet as it looks?

Otto, do a search on both the "for sale" and "general sections' for "1537".

I think that you will find the reviews to be overwhelming.

Otto - no need to do a search. The 1537 is overwhelming. Take my word for it. I spent several days this past week playing a lot of different and very expensive guitars in a bunch of music stores. The 1537 easily beats out a $3K Martin HD-28, a $4K Taylor, and a $3K Larrivee, IMO. Go for it. They're rare, and usually much more expensive, when you can find them, than what Blues is wanting for this one. The best wood-top Ovation ever made.

Sure, the Wabbit always gets the blame.

Otto, it's simple. If you're after a prime example of Ovation quality, craftsmanship and superior tone and playability, you're looking at a picture of it above. Easily one of the best, if not the best wood top A/E Ovation has produced.
I doubt you will find anyone who knows Ovations that will tell you otherwise.

If I didn't already have my 87 collectors (basically a cutaway version of the 1537) I would have already bought this one. If I had the cash available right now I would have been sorely tempted to buy it anyway.

I paid $1000 for mine. Twice what I had ever paid for a guitar up till that time, but it was a bargain. Played it last night and it is just a great guitar. It is better than anything I've ever played hanging on the wall at GC and I play pretty much everything they have in the acoustic room.

otto, i don't know if this will help or hinder you, but here's a clip of me playing a 1537 plugged in.
the guitar still sounds very nice even after the youtube download compression. the audio in my original file is far superior but this gives an indication of how nice these guitars are.

Well this last round from you guys pretty much drove it home. This could be the one.

From everything you all have told me and everything I've read, here and elsewhere, the 1537 has got to be the ultimate Elite. If I want an Elite they don't get any better than this. And, (God help me) I trust you whackos. This is way more guitar than I thought I was looking for but I also think it may be time to pull the trigger.

Blues, I e-mailed last night with my phone numbers. Did you receive it? If not, try me back and leave your number. I could hit the road tomorrow.

There is no "the one." It will only be the first one. Then there's the different sound of the Adamas. Then you go for the 12 fretters, or two or three. Then there's the nylon strings. Then around back to the traditional centerhole Ovation sound. Maybe something with some more bling and a cutaway. But the 1537 is a great way to get hooked.

Cut it out Mark. This is scary enough. I feel like I'm in the six string version of "Reefer Madness". What have I got myself into?

"Hey man... you like that 6 string don't ya. heh, heh, heh, yeah... Try a hit of this twelve string. C'mon, you know you want to..."

"Okay mister, maybe just a little... Hey, there's no carbon fiber in this is there...?"

LOL

Otto, this is just the first step on the escalator going down. Once you buy a couple, it gets much easier. It's so easy for me now that I don't even think about what I'm doing most of the time...
Seriously though, you can't do better than the 1537 for a wood top. It took me quite a while to get one, so you're way ahead of me.

I went with the "Something Old, Something New" approach to Ovation ownership. I have two, that is plenty.

A sweet 1537 that I have owned for 12 years now (before they were famous) and an Adamas 2080. Just to remind myself of what I got, I have set up a time to go play some Taylors and Martins and am taking the O&A with me for comparisons.

Last time I did this I was shopping in the $2500 plus department at GC in Clackamas. After the wife and I listened to all the guitars we played, then compared to the 1537, she asked...."tell me again why you want one of these guitars?" to which I had no answer and we walked out.

Of course this is the same lovely bride who wanted me to take the 1537 back when I first bought it as "it's defective, does it have termites, did someone shoot it with a shotgun" and other such indications that she was initially uncomfortable with the multiple sound holes.

Otto,

trust these guys. they gave me a lot of advice and recommended that I purchase a 1718 Elite that I saw on eBay. I bought it and couldn't be happier about it. they like to mess with your head, but they won't steer you wrong on a purchase.

Make sure Blues includes a set of string tubes with the 1537. A NEW set.

Many of us, with guitars that used to be yours, are highly appreciative of this statement! :p

Otto, if you complete this deal, we expect a personal appearance at the Southern Jam in June. If you can't make it, just send tha 1537.

3 years this month. That's when I found this place looking for information on a Celebrity Deluxe that I mistakenly bought on ebay and everyone was talking about 1537s. Sometimes knowledge is power. Sometimes it is just expensive.

Ditto that. The last guitar I bought came with very used string tubes, almost unusable, so I had to spring for a new set. You know they ain't cheap!
