Since my wife hasn't warmed up to this OFC idea yet, she probably won't attend either, even if it's at our place. Civilizing influences, therefore, will be unnecessary. That also eliminates most of the menu choices, although there are adequate restaurants in McCall if you get tired of beer and brats.

I hear you there. I'd be up for it, weather, schedule, work, church, family, kids, finances, and intestinal track permitting (miss anything?).

Although, we're moving in about three weeks, and summer means back-to-back 60+hour workweeks until mid-September.

Just to further add to the intestinal issues, are we talking get together, jam, commiserate, soothe GAS issues...?

There won't be any soothing GAS issues if we meet in McCall. Only one little shop that has some cheap guitars and an occasional Martin. No soothing of the other gas issues either if we eat brats and drink beer. If I get the snow off the deck there will be enough room for some jamming and mosquito swatting.
I can relate to the difficulty of finding the time to get away. I can't seem to do it and I'm only 100 miles away.

Sounds like between the brats and the guitars, GAS may become an explosive issue.

Bump.
I just settled a bunch of cases, which for a defense lawyer means less money and more free time. The only weekend in June that is booked is the 17th and 18th. July is fairly open and August is open after the second weekend. We talked about a NW gathering for over a year. Lets pick a weekend and gather in McCall. I'll probably haul all my Ovations up there and if I can get Tim to haul his in his van down from Moscow, we should have plenty to mess with. I'll need somebody to bring an Adamas or 2. Preferably blue or red and for sale at a reasonable price.

hmmm, a 10 hour (each way) drive to a cabin in the woods, wherein I can reveal my complete lack of musical talent? I'd probably go for that! I'll have to get back to you on dates, though.

You can make it faster than that if you don't come through Boise. And don't worry about lack of talent. I've pretty well cornered that market. Just keep practicing.
Sounds like we have this weekend in Portland booked or I'd come look you up. Be afraid, be very afraid.

Two more weeks of this craziness (end of school year) and I'm open for any weekends. Been lurking at school, and just got a new laptop running at home to post regularly again.

That darn Snake river makes you go so far out of your way... Maybe they should do something about that?

Why don't you suggest building another dam? You'll make lots of friends. You can cut across at Weiser and go up through Council, so it's not as far. Or we could see how many people Jeff could get in his plane.

Where exactly is the cabin? Any idea about how far it is from Seattle?

The cabin is in McCall, Idaho, a long way from Seattle. It used to be a long way from anywhere until the Californians found it. Since I was just almost to Yakima last weekend and will be in Portland this weekend, driving 1000 miles on a weekend is not that big a deal for me, but I know that's a long haul for many people, especially if you have little kids.
Since we spent last summer remodelling the cabin and building the mother of all decks, I thought I'd offer it up for a gathering. To make up for the trip, I'll supply the mountain lake, boat, catamaran, canoe, bratwursts or Polish sausage and beer.

How far is it from the nearest airstrip?

(no dvd, not a pilot. I have many friends who are, one of whom I'm helping build his second plane. And what's the point of having friends if you can't use them? :D )

There is a decent airport right in McCall, a couple miles from my cabin. I can pick you up. JeffreyD is a pilot and we talked about this a few posts back.
David, I will be in Portland August 5-11 and might be taking my daughter back to school later that month and July 7-9 is booked, I think. I suppose I better check my schedule and just post when I'm available.

Let's do this, if you're interested in attending a PNW get-together, PM me with your available weekends June thru September and I'll summarize.

Let's get a date on the calendar. Once we know the WHO and the WHEN, we can revisit the WHERE if that's a concern.

Thanks!

And I suppose you won't call as you pass through Hermiston again either will you!!! :(

I am home Saturday, but leaving Sunday for a Goldwing ride through the PNW to see if I can find any other rain than we have here.

Hey "Pickles" that photo in your profile looks like a Pickle jar full of St Helens Ash. I know as I have one almost identical (except I am a Nalley's Banquet dill sort of guy).

BING BING BING, you are a winner! LOL! Yes indeed, gathered from my yard in Hillsboro on May 18th, 1980. I wonder how many of these are holding doors open throughout OR, WA, ID, and beyond. :)

Here is something else to chew on. If we want to press for a more central location, I can probably arrange for a meeting room that would handle up to 100 people pretty cheap. Same place our church meets now. Lot's of lower priced but nicer motels in Hermiston, and I might be able to arrange for "guest rooms" for a number of folks at my house and some of the church members houses if the worship contingent among you put together the worship service for that Sunday. We are pretty small at only 40 or 50 people depending on the weekend, but it would make for an intimate setting. Or...there is a bigger church in town that might allow a special program if size mattered.

As for beer and brats, well...I have a big yard, a sizable BBQ and you would have to provide your own beer....we also have a couple of parks that have facilities that can be reserved for nothing, so lawn chairs would rule.

Lot's of options here in Hermit's Town!!!

But...yeah, if it's in Idaho or on the West side of the mountains, I would fly or drive as appropriate.

However

Jeff, I thought about giving you a call as I went by Hermiston last weekend, but didn't have your phone number or name with me. We took 82 up to the tricities and back. Nice storm Friday night, so we didn't stop once between Boise and Kennewick. On the way back I was keeping up with 3 other Porsches. Only disadvantage for me meeting in Hermiston is that I can't hold as many Ovations in the Boxster as you can in your airplane.

Would have missed you last weekend as I drove my Goldwing through the middle of that very storm at about 4:00 p.m. Friday just past Boardman. Got HAMMERED.....

New granddaughter arrived last weekend.

Oh...and on the boxster....get a trailer!!!

P.S. PM with cell number on the way. Just in case I am not out flying when you plow through this weekend. I would even meet you at the Exit 182 Minimart just up the street from me.

I have parts for a custom made hitch for the Boxster. I've had them for 5 years. It's easier to just take the other car.

Okay, the holiday weekend is behind us. Time for the rest of you Northwesterners to check in on available weekends for the summer.

I've only heard from Mark, tdeej, and JeffreyD.

Who else would be up for NW gettogether?? MWoody, EdensHarvest, Waskel? GH1? AFG? PokeyPup? FillHixx? Nils?

Check in!

Here's my thinking on it: I would definately like to meet up at "The Gathering". Instead of suggesting a time, and add another variable to the planning, i think it would be best to wait for a concensus, and then do my best to make that happen.

Just my thoughts on it. Carry on.
