There's no artist that I "hate", but plenty that I would never listen to in a million years. Lots of those were already mentioned in this thread by others. I wouldn't want to mention them because others might actually like them, and what's to be gained by pissing off all Rolling Stones fans (for example) by proclaiming "I hate the f'ing Rolling Stones" ... Fact is that the list if artists that I DISlike is a hell of a lot longer than those that I DO like. I've got a narrow bandwidth, that's my issue not theirs. If you like Kid Rock and I like Celine Dion, big freaking deal. Sorry to sound so uppity. Maybe I'm just sickened by all the negativity that comes with an election year. I just don't don't get it when people "hate" McCain or Obama. How about "I support so and so because I can more closely relate to his views on such and such" ??? Go back to my earlier post in this thread. Herve Villachaize - Why Do People Have To Hate Good question. Dave

Musical talent from that point on came second BIG style. Then of course, we got the jokers who jumped on the band wagon (Simon Cowell, et. al.) who thought it would be a good idea to have a talent show to find `singers' to form new boy/girl bands. The format has been milked to death, but that won't stop them. The four lads from Liverpool who played their own instruments and wrote their own songs wouldn't stand a chance today.

"Hate" has taken on a stronger, darker meaning then it used to. Normally I would steer around it but here perhaps I let my guard down. I gotta remember that this is the internet and just because I intend say in a more innocent tone, it only matters on how it is read. I think Dave is saying that it's better to angle to the positive than waste time & energy on the negative. I agree. Maybe we're just a "bunch of old, out of touch, white guys" looking for some type of commonality. Maybe that commonality could also be found on the postitive side. There are a ton of tunes & artists out there that I have been deeply touched by. I could site verses and explain in great detail the part they have played in my life. But that would require introspection & explaination of personal details. It's much easier & shorter to go the other way and take it out on the poor, misundersood Axel Rose.

I think the music business is being run by guys telling us what we should like, and ploughing resources into artistes they think we should like. Do they go home and actually listen to Will Young or Westlife? - Doubt it somehow !

And I am growing up and learning to appreciate Country music more and more, still not my style and I may never become a convert but I will admit lots of great musical content and great musicians! Unlike the crap listed above. If I had to pick one....... I guess it would be.......Michael Jackson....no....he really is an ass but he does have some musical ability..........OK......I guess ...........Yoko Ono She has never produced one measure of music worth listening to that I know of. To be honest I will never really know I can't make it through enough of it to care. I live a small musical life but I am happy.

Joined: February 2004 Posts: 2487 | Well for most humans, we do have dislikes. I don't "hate" Yoko Ono, I do Dislike her as an Artist. This thread is about artistic dislikes. not HATE. Actually I might Hate Yoko but we have not met so it's just dislike........ Who cares what I, or any of us, think anyway right. This is just supposed to be fun and for some of us a thread to try and post funny or witty response. It is a discussion that is at least based on a music theme. Personally I can't take sunshine and roses every day. For me a little bad weather and dog shit makes the good days that much better and it keeps you in the real world and aware of things having to watch for the Shit.
