Whenever I start wondering if my life has been good and I did the right thing by my children, I listen to "Cat's in the Cradle" and I realize I did ok.

Wow, that struck home! My Dad worked so hard that he could of been the 'subject' of the song; not due to indifference, but toil and providing.

I promised myself that that I would not be 'guilty' of the same. Thankfully, I can also say 'OK'!!!

mcthumber, major thanx for your post!

Stuck in my head...

Things are moving so quickly I feel like I'm really losing touch,
Seeing you reminds me of days when nothing really mattered very much...

If you leave me, can I come too? -- Mental as Anything (Australian band)

Meaningful....

Sometimes I lie awake at night and wonder
where the years have gone
They have all passed under
sleep's dark and silent gate

Jackson Browne

On that 'Inner Child' note...

You've Gotta Lotta Nerve To Say You Are My Friend
When I Was Down You Just Stood There Grinnin'
You've Gotta Lotta Nerve To Say You Have A Helping Hand To Lend
You Just Want To Be On The Side That's Winnin'

You See Me On The Street, You Always Act Surprised
Ya Say "how Are You?", "good Luck", But Ya Dont Mean It
When You Know As Well As Me You'd Rather See Me Paralized
Why Dont You Just Come Out Once And Scream It...

...I Wish That For Just One Time You Could Stand Inside My Shoes
And Just For That One Moment I Could Be You
Yes, I Wish That For Just One Time You Could Stand Inside My Shoes
You'd Know What A Drag It Is To See You!

Didn't wanna post the Whole damn song... Just the Highlights.

If the phone doesn't ring, it's me
(Jimmy Buffett)

Remember when we were young, you shone like the sun
Shine on you crazy diamond,
Now there's a look in your eyes, like black holes in the sky...

"My mama told me, when I was young...."

so what if it's Skynrd... song meant a lot to me, and reminds me of gone and missing friends.

What is most meaningful depends on my mood at the time, as well as holding some universal truth. Right now its:

Stuck in my head:

All we want to do is eat your brains
We’re not unreasonable, I mean, no one’s going to eat your eyes.

Jonathan Coulton RE: Your Brains

Stayed with me:

Into a dancer you have grown
From a seed somebody else has sown.
Go on ahead and sow some seeds of your own.
And somewhere between the time you arrive,
and the time you go
may lie a reason you were alive,
but you’ll never know.

Prelude For a Dancer (After the Gold Rush album)

ddr, I thought that was from "For a Dancer" by Jackson Browne. It was on the "Late For the Sky" album.
