The part of the park that we were in is used for walking, walking the dog, and observing the river. Many people stopped by to visit and ask what was going on. Some sat a while, some danced ane one in particular: stopped to sing a song with us. He was attracted by Nick playing the reaper song. It was really quite a treat for us and he said that it made the day for him. He also used to own an Ovation that his father had given him (I think). Regardless, it was great fun.

(hope not) 2) Did you draw a crowd from the other park visitors? 1)Parking lot was about 150 - 200 ft. away (That's my nice-n-CLEAN white Pick-em-up! ;) ) and the walking path you see in the foreground circled around us (The French Broad river is about 100 ft. directly behind us) 2)We had people that were walking the path, stop and listen a while. Our groupies(see my gallery)went and got their lawn chairs and listened (and danced!) for a couple of hours. I started toward the restrooms and a man and woman on bicycles stopped me and asked what the occasion was.....I told them about the OFC and invited them to come over a give a listen..... We even had a guy (Chris) join us in a song! (watch for a video from CrimsonLake on YouTube!) It was a fantastic location and just a beautiful day (maybe 85-88 degrees with a nice cool breeze coming from the river......Just Perfect! YSBT

Had it this way for about 12 years now. No barber in that time but I have run thru a few sets of cutters. Just do like alot of us folically challenged due Jas, cut it off and grow a beard! Next time, we have to do this for a weekend or a long weekend. It really wasn't enough time. I feel like I left a great (yeah, that word again) family reunion wanting more. If anyone wants copies of my pics (a little over 300, lots of bad ones due to photographer) PM me with your address and I will burn a cd for you.

Glad to hear the event went well. We need to do one of those up here. We could call it "Snowshoes and O's". :) Dave

You guys (y'all) are great musicians. Music, Lanaki, Trboy and the humble Capt_lovehandles can jam and sing. CrimsonLake, his son Nick and BluesSailor can hold there own too. They all were kind and patient with me, and they showed everyone the chords and a few tricks to alot of the songs. If I had teachers like these guys, I might become good enough to plugin some time. Here is a pic at the end of the day. Notice the silly, boyish grins and one just plain silly (Tr)boy. Your time will come Trboy...

Joined: August 2006 Posts: 3145 Location: Marlton, NJ | Good morning everyone! I got back last night from Asheville - 11 1/2 hours on the road. Nicky and I had a great time! This was the nicest bunch of people you could ever hope to meet. Everyone treated Nicky like gold - included him in everything, helped him out during the songs, encouraged him (especially BegginJM - just awesome). He will never forget this weekend. As for his performance - I have now watched or heard it at least 100 times...oy! When he was asked if he wanted to play something, I was absolutely floored when he got up - grabbed MusicMishka's T-bolt and went right into Don't Fear The Reaper. It was the best he ever played it. Thanks to Randy for making my 47RI absolutely sing. Now I know what it should sound like. Thanks to Jas (Captain Lovehandles) for putting those binders together - they really helped alot - and are a great souvenier. Everyone signed everyone else's binders. Thanks to Mishka for bringing and setting up the PA system - everything worked like a charm! Thanks to BegginJM and Randy for picking out and securing the location - it was absolutely perfect. Thank God for the beautiful weather and for responding to Randy's request for a voice by sending in Chris (the guy that stepped in to sing Ice Cream Man). Thanks to Brad (BluesSailor) for the opportunity to purchase the Tak '98 LTD. Thanks to TRBoy for his fantastic playing and for just being there! All in all - it was a long trip which I would do again in a minute. I will post pics as soon as I can - I've been trying to upload them but there seems to be a problem with the site. I will post the video's to YouTube when I figure out how to rip them off of the DVD back into a format I can post (any suggestions?). Thanks again - it's people and events like this that make this site what it is.

Now, what hair is left is hanging on to the last root. Photoshop (hehe) wonder what Trboy would look like with no hair..Jas, care to help with this one? MORE pics to come (hehe)...
