I don't notice it so much on the Tak, they all have that "Tak" smell, but try it with a new Collings. My Merrill is great for it.

It's such a nice change from the glue smell that the CB gives off since it came back from the mothership. I don't recall experiancing that smell on any other Brazian I've played. Will that disappear over time? Dave

I also like the smell of a new maple guitar. My two Collings have that but it's a bit more subtle and fades faster. I love playing the Merrill cause if you really get on it for about 10 minutes or so you can get a wiff from time to time. Nice to have the guitar comunicating with you as you play it.

Check out the Freight Train vids, and see what was probably the original Karaoke. Amazing what some people will figure out, out of necessity. Now that is "talent"! Dave

Joined: September 2006 Posts: 713 Location: Alberta, Canada | I'm beginning to think my EF75J has ruined me. I have always desired a nice Martin, so while in Edmonton yesterday, I had to stop in to the big Martin shop there. I tried an HD-35, an EC small body, and a OOO, that the young fellow watching the acoustic room thought was the best in there. To say I was underwelmed(sp) would be an understatement! This Tak just blew them away! Bill, I must say thank you one more time for something that would never have crossed my radar without you nudging it into the spotlight! Dave

I've been talking to a dealer about a custom order (not a TAK or Ovamas) and at the end of the day I think about my EF75 and ask myself WHY ??? To this day, the EF75 is still the best bargin I ever got on a guitar. Sure I could have spent 4x as much and maybe gotten a different name on the headstock. Dave
