More great stuff. Anyone who has not checked out Kit's music on soundclick should give it a listen, great songs that are well played and recorded. I'm very glad to see that so many people are enjoying it.

Again Bobbo, this is a great thread, thanks for DJing.

I wrote this after Karen and I came back from New Orleans that Easter before Katrina hit. I used in the song names of places or things I seen. Madam Blues was on Canal street I think, but I don't know if it is still there. The Cajun Queen is a River Boat there or use to be. I came home and was working on the E blues scale and while I was playing the notes on the A string I was hitting the open E at the same time. I thought it sounded bluesy so it started.
I wanted to write a song with the aura of New Orleans, so I put a twist on the old Robert Johnson tale of trading his should to the devil at the crossroads. Here it is temptation that makes the guitar player go with this woman. What he don't know is that she collects musicians to play with her. In the Cajun Queen there are no windows or doors just a stage. He has a choice to play with her until she is done with him and his music lives on or end up in the swamps with the gators. For the woman I wanted to have a nice sexy french name. I combined Champaign with Chevrolet and came up with Challet'. I used Chevrolet because the Logo is from wallpaper found in a Paris Hotel room from the Then owner of the company.

When we recorded. I played the song on my Elite, but i did not want it mic-ed because I wanted the electronics to shine so we just ran it into the board. I then used my UKll. I wanted a nice evil sound, but not like Black Sabbath, so I used both pickups
The neck pickup I switch to double, and placed the volume on 10 and the bass/treble on 8 to brighten it up, then the bridge pickup was set to single coil, volume at 10, and the bass/treble or 3. The combination of the two in that set up is the sound I used for the electric guitar parts, and the long sustained part, which gives it an eerie sound and takes up time and space.
The lead guitar player used the UKll, bridge pu, on single coiled and ran it through a Line 6 amp with 80 bagillion effects. He wanted to use his strat but I asked him to use the UKll. while he was messing with his amp and pedal board I went to get coffee and when I came back in I'll be damned if it did not sound like a strat anyway. Oh well at least he used the guitar. The bass player even used an Ovation bass that the studio/music store had for sale, I'm not sure which kind, maybe a magnum I think but not totally sure, I just know I could not afford how much they wanted for it. Anyway thats how it came about and recorded I hope everyone enjoys it. Again Bobbo thank you so very much it's an honor to have the music played on this thread.

Pez, your guitar is beautiful. There are some other very good videos posted by Ovation on that channel. Lots of talent.

Its a band called Atlanta Rhythm Section...theyve had quite a few hits. I just discovered them due to that not really being my era...no disrespect...just wasnt around yet.

I really have always been a fan of the voices, and guitars, songs...to me thats a very well put togehter tune.

I'm just a fan of all music period. I cant figure out how some refuse to listen to the 60's, 70's, or they say thats so 80's.....or thats too rock or thats too country....thats not a true fan of music.

Who cares when it was done etc...I discover new music everyday and continue to fall in love with music over and over again.

now back to your regualy scheduled program :)

I think what db meant was that Bobbo started (and ran) this thread to showcase the talents of OFC members past and present. True, he hasn't posted anything for a little while, but that may be in no small part due to the less than enthusiastic response of the general membership here. Seemed to me it was pretty much the same half-dozen or so people showing appreciation for the work done by the featured members, and everybody else pretty much ignored it. Guess they care more about the guitars as objects than about using them. If it was my thread, I'd have gotten discouraged, too.

I truly hope SB keeps this going. I have heard and seen music being played by members of the OFC from past and present that I would not have been able to enjoy the vast approach to music. Since I was not at any of the several gatherings or know the other members of this site, it has been a real joy. Thanks Bobbo, keep them coming!

Crosby Tyler. That's who's next ... and who knows, you might all be able to say I listened to Crosby before he became big.

Crosby is a singer/songwriter from Los Angeles. I got to meet him through Paul Templeman, who is currently playing guitar with him on a tour of the UK. They came up to Northern California, and played a few songs one night at a small pub, as did a few of the usual suspects who were also around. Fortunately, Cliff was there with his video camera and recorded the performances that these folks did at Cameron's in Half Moon Bay.

Leave It All In The Hands Of The Lord - Crosby Tyler (with Paul Templeman)

Crosby has a whole bunch of good tunes. Check him out here: http://crosbytyler.com/. He plays a Guild guitar, but that's all right, it's still family. And no worries that this is the Ovation SOTD ... you'll see and hear Templeman playing the Adamas OFC2 guitar. Making it sound way better than the current owner could ever dream about. Templeman is a fabulous instrumentalist who I am amazed and humbled by every time I get a chance to hear him or jam with him.

There's lots more good music on the way. Sorry things went dark for a while ... lots of reasons, all of them valid, none of them adequate. Stuff happens. But it was all good and I've been playing my Ovation in lots of new places lately. So no excuses ... just leave it all in the hands of the Lord. Things always work out.

Stay tuned. Enjoy the music. Play your guitar. Life is good if you let it.

Crosby is an interesting guy.
I heard a couple tunes that I hope will be on his next release.
In this American Idol world, it's nice to find something fresh.
