If Dave had been reading any of the earlier posts, he would have known that I voiced the same concerns about my wife meeting him. The fact that someone is crazier than me doesn't garner me any favors.
Since my wife doesn't want to be present, I promise I will not cause any trouble with Mrs. Dave. I will not tell my wife that you sent yours to the mall with the gold card. She doesn't need those ideas. We'll all be better off if my wife spends her time drinking with the old folks in the trailer park.

Unpacked, tuned and played. Nice abalone. It's surprisingly light. Distinct sound, not like any of my Ovations. Interesting other CDs and DVDs with it. I'll have to see what I can copy before we head south.

I'm begining to wonder what this guitar would sound likee with a set of nylon strings.

Mark,
If you get a chance, strum her along the banks of the South Fork of the Boise....snap a picture too. Been too long since I last wet a line in that river...

I believe, and Jeff can correct me, that the wooden Wonder was a small shop-high man hour-low overhead instrument that was available while he was traipsing about the Pacific Rim in search of knowledge and Customers.

The instrument itself does not have any superlative properties but "when you can't be with the Juan you love, love the Juan you're with"!

The fact that they copied the Ovation is flattery and the amount of inlay work is impressive. the sound is similar to an elite with the access cover pulled. The wood back resonates in both directions.

There was the start of a hump behind the bridge after a week of mediums at full tension. A set of Nylon strings might work out! The new set of tuners really did make a big difference.

Mostly, I enjoyed it because it came from my OFC Pals and is now part of our shared history.

With it I packed the Dadi DVD from France along with a journal.

Enjoy, share and play!

Did I mention that it is a ballsy-lookin guitar?

Jeff, I will try to get down to the Boise river this weekend for a picture, but can't make it to the South Fork. It's a bit too cold to keep it out long.

I've got your guitar in my basement, hanging next to my other O's. I didn't pay anything to use it (very important to my wife). It came with a camera, cds and a dvd, and you're worried about me going out of my way! It's the least I could do.
I also plan on playing golf this weekend at one of 3 courses that are on the river, so it won't be out of my way.

WRB has arrived in Phoenix via MIB. She survived Southworst Airlines and they even let Mark carry her aboard. I must say it's an interesting guitar and actually sounds and plays much better than I had expected. Setup isn't half bad. The craftsmanship in the bowl is pretty stunning. I've got it on the band saw right now cutting the scale down to a uke-like 16 inches. Nice tuners Wood-person. Dave

Did he make a bong out of it when he changed the tuners?

Jeff, I never got it down to the Boise River, but did get a copy of the 40th Anniversary dvd in there.
Southwest was interesting. They said I couldn't carry it on, but suggested I check it in a box. Packed it in the box and got it there. They wanted to charge me $50 for oversized luggage. The clerk asked why I didn't just carry it on, so we unpacked it. Had styrofoam sticking to everything. We stopped in Las Vegas and it seemed like everyone else had guitars as carryon.
I brought a guitar back and carried it on without any questions on Southwest.
Dave was a great host and even drove me down to my parents'. None of us would have wanted my family to wait around while we played all Dave's guitars.

No worries, Mark. That's why we have "Breech of Contract" laws. Know any good attorneys?

Pleased to hear that you and Dave enjoyed your visit and sounds like the WRB added a bit of interesting schmaltz to the affair. I just hope it is not a ukulelele now (or even thinks it's one).

I've never had any problems with a guitar as carry-on, unless I was flying puddle jumpers with sparse overhead storage. Glad you got it worked out.

Where's it off to next?
