You're on, Prof. That was going to be my plan on Thursday as well. I'm not a golfer (well not by these guy's standards - my technique is probably closer to Happy Gilmour's...).

Slippy, I looked at leaving early as well, but I've changed my mind. Every year at the Tour Moody and I have to fly in on the redeye and catch the Sunday morning early bird. This year I've decided to take a daytime flight in (Wed) and leave later Sunday (3pm) so I don't have to drag myself out of bed and to the airport before daylight. I'll still get home about 9:30 pm.

Jim & Mike, what time are you guys heading out Sunday?

Deciding between golf and a ride through the Keys, plenty of jamming on incredible gits with Matt and a chance to meet a couple of long time members that have yet to hit the Tour...

Brad, you've got to go and I've got to stop reading this thread.

Uh, Weas... we were kind of kidding about the Keys. I don't think the scooters are up to a 1000 mile round trip in one day.

Now if Brad and I had our bikes, maybe...

I was kidding about the keys, but I'm up for something around the Island or along the mainland if we can find suitable roads.

I did some scooter riding last year with and I don't think they actually restrict where you can go. But there's nothing really to go off-island for, the off-island roads have little or no shoulder and the traffic sucks. Best riding is on the island and along the shore. There is a pretty big state park which is a great place to ride. You can park (and lock up) at some nice beaches, hiking areas, and a big fishing pier. From the pier you can wave hello to Georgia.

I was thinking the scooters were more like golfcarts. Are they more of the vespa variety?

Ride south on the coast highway to Big Talbot and Little Talbot Islands. The state park on Little Talbot is really nice. On Big Talbot there's a small turnoff for Black Rock Beach - you owe it to yourself to check that out. Main roads have too much traffic for safe scootering.

Wouldn't it be a kick to have a dozen or more O fanatics descend on the GC in Jax? I chuckle just thinking about it.

Thanks, Brad, I just spit coffee on my keyboard.
Got this mental image of us in our leathers riding 50cc scooters around the island.

Now THAT's an idea!!!

We pile everybody into Bill's Suburban & hit the local GuitarCenter.

But we send ONE guy in at a time and pull the old "W.C. Fields in the Candy Store routine":

One guy goes into the acoustic room and asks to try out the Ovation that requires the guy t'get the ladder to get it "down" . . . when HE's done and it goes back "up" . . . we send the next guy in . . .

As Templeman says:

"Minutes of Fun!!"

Excellent idea! Maybe by the last guy it'll be displayed at floor level, and he can suggest that they might want to keep it up higher so kids don't scratch it!

 If they're not 'assless', they're just leather pants!

And as any cowboy can tell you, chicks dig guys in chaps.

Actually, the scooters that're more like golfcarts are called . . . . um, . . . . "golfcarts".

Y'usually find THEM (and the tinted visors) a few hundred miles further down A1A . . . .
