I'm here! Checkin' in late but I'm here! Darn crazy weekend drivers tried to take me out twice on the way home Sunday (26 southbound was a GAUNTLET!!) but God loves a fool so I got through both near misses without even losing any paint. :D Sounds like He put in a little overtime for TJ, too. Glad to hear you, Iffy, and Gway got through your obstacles okay Jim!

Well, not much to be said that hasn't been said very nicely already so let me just add my thanks to Keith and Co. for hosting this thing. The food, the fun, the hospitality... Nothing short of fantastic!

And a huge heartfelt thanks to ALL of the OFC family who were there for making this weekend such an uplifting experience. My Wild Eyed Southern Brothers who got me started with this craziness, (Beggin, Jas, G8R, CLMike and Nicky, TRBoy, Trader Jim, and the conspicuously missing Tidewater Tim) and all the new friends and their families that I met this weekend (Richard, Keith, Blues, Iffy, Gway, Capo, Karen, Cheryl, Music, Beal, Chris. This is truly a rare and wonderful group. Love y'all!

Thanks again, War Eagle. The cabin, the country, and the company were nothing short of amazing. It was all as perfect as could be.

Cold?? Hardly!! The music, love, and fellowship radiating from that piece of mountain this weekend were more than a match for a little temperature drop.

Otto

Thanks for lookin' after our boy from Downunder. I reckon he had the time of his life. Can't wait to hear all about it first hand.

I gotta say, those pictures look idyllic. What a great weekend for all those who attended. What a great location. Did anyone take video?

First AJ, now Richard. You could cut the jealousy down here with a rusty blunt knife. I'm green with envy.

I know Richard was taking video. With all the gear he's bringing home, there was no room in his weight allowance for a laptop. But I suspect he'll find a way to log on at the hotel and at least read some posts. I guess we'll see you at g8rbowl '09, muzza. It's your turn to come over.

I'll be seeing him again this weekend.

What a hoot! Yeehaaah!!

Thanks for all who made this a fantastic weekend which I will never forget. A big thanks to Keith for letting us destroy his Cabin (well mess it up some anyway). A big special thanks to the Captain for picking me up from the airport, minding my guitars and generally being a swell guy.

Iffy, hope the ankle gets better soon. If you weren't such a (** party affiliation deleted **) supporter we would've stopped arguing earlier and you would have gone to bed before the frost and not slipped.

What a great bunch of people. I'd love to come again, but I'll have to find someone to pay for my airfares again, and that doesn't happen often. What a booming sound with a room full of Ovations playing all at once.

Muzz we'll have to get together soon so you can see my new baby and get even more jealous. What a beauty, thanks Al. I haven't even plugged it in yet, but my fingers have adapted to that extra 1/16" with gay abandon. I first touched it at 1:00am on Saturday at Beggin's and by 3 in the afternoon could no longer play a narrow neck properly. That extra real estate is wonderful. Everytime I open the case my heart flutters when I see what's inside the case.

I ate all my grits. In my defence, I passed on the grits on Sunday morning so I could try the biscuit - I was showing my ability to try new things. But don't worry about sending care packages of grits, I'll get by somehow.

I'm working on really weird hours. I wake up at 4:00am and have to wait for things to open so I can have breakfast. I'm just about to head off to the Natural History Museum, if I can find it.

I'm giving my fingers a real workout. Lucky I have to go sightseeing or my fingertips would be just one big blister. Man I love that git!

Well here’s my attempt to express my fond thanx to ya’ll in no particular order, sans exclamation points and emoticons (not enough room for ‘em all).

War Eagle (Keith) , your generosity, southern hospitality, talents and especially your family (both personal and community) are just outstanding and sets a very high (no pun intended) hosting standard within the OFC.

TRboy (Mike) and Maribeth , how can I express my gratitude for that ‘special’ greeting from a special couple? Mike, thanx for MedEvac. I love that heater in your truck. Maribeth, did you get to take any ‘Mason apples’ home?

Capo Guy (Mike) , I’ll never look at my cat in the same way. Great to meet you. Let’s catch the next jam…

Captain_Lovehandles (Jas) , I can’t think of a time when I didn’t see ya without a guitar and a smile. Had fun, did ya?

AKA Richard , thoroughly enjoyed our fireside chat just prior to my pratfall. I’m sure TR enjoyed your company during our trip to Clyde. Loved that smile when you pulled out that 08C. Hopefully someone got a pic of that moment. If ya ever change your OFC nomer, how ‘bout TimTamMan? They were outrageously delicious.

Beggin (Jim) , I know you’ve never met a stranger. You’re a hoot. I watched ya jamming with Nicky and Keith's daughter and thought it a special moment.

MusicMishka (Mike) , what a joy and blessing to have you there. Thanx for the ‘moment’ in the kitchen. Here’s hoping that ya’ll will be more comfortable at the next jam.

Gway (Gary) , I don’t know what TJ and I would have done without you on that trip back. Thanx for going out of your way to tend my needs. BTW, you need to relate the ‘long hair’ experience on I95 (a la “Signs” by Five Man Electrical Band).

Otto (Bill) , I didn’t get much of a chance to talk with you but your ‘books’ really kicked the jamming into high gear (hint, hint for the rest of us).

CrimsonLake (Mike) , it was great to meet the creator of the ‘Iffy’ tag. Now if we can just stay out of trouble…

g8r (Serge) , talking ‘bout adding energy to a gathering, yo da man. I sure hope I can make the ‘Bowl Jam’.

BluesSailor (Brad) , I sure enjoyed gabbin’ and pickin’ with ya in the kitchen (actually it wasn’t you, just that FD!). As an afterthought I should have loaned ya the Academy for you next voyage. Full sails and high tides to ya…

Joisey Goil #1 a/k/a Jewel's Mom (Karen) , it was really nice to have a couple of live ‘girlie necks’ finger picking those ‘O’s & ‘A’s. Plus yours and Cheryl’s angelic voices added a sweet element to the testosterone filled cabin.

Joisey Goil #2 (Cheryl) , lady, ya gotta open up and come outta that shell. Seriously, I think you had the most fretboard time other than TR. I’m glad you joined the OFC. Now get rid of that ‘Junior Member’ status.

Mauvais Beal , I sensed that your arrival was the official OFC Jam stamp of approval. I really appreciated the ‘rest of the story’ on my 3 PU assy UK2. I won’t be washing that case you signed. Hope your pet is doing better…

Chris Campbell (future OFCer?), you fascinated me with your ability to play fill over the others. I still say you should have been amped. Good luck with your CD project.

Bubba (Perry) , you’re proof that angels can take any form. Where ever you are, bless you.

Trader Jim (Jim) , what can I say, my dear friend that I haven’t said before? You’re really someone special. Good thing you didn’t have your stress test right after our return, eh?

Thanx also to the OFC brides that did so much to enable and enhance the festivities. BTW, the UTEs (aka youn’ uns ) were awesome and so well behaved. Congrats to all the parents.

My apologies if I missed anyone (CRS is not an option, just persistent) and also for the early wake up call at the cabin.

Well I grinned, smiled and laughed so hard at the Jam that I'm gonna have the surgeon check to see if I did any permanent damage to my jaw hinges.

Thanx to all of ya'll...

Johnny,

When they say "Break A Leg" before performing, Don't take them seriously. :D

Hope your ankle mends fast. Yes you will be able to forecast approaching hurricanes better than the Weather Channel.

2ifbyC : Iffy, you are a blessing! I never saw you without a smile and a kind word; I'm looking forward to our next meeting...Heal fast and well and green grass and high tides!
BTW: the little ones will grow fast and become hardier...I think for 21 months, "little Mishka" did pretty well...he loved the tent on Friday night...SWMBO was the real champ as usual...her first time camping and she never complained even after working two nights in a row Wednesday and Thursday!
FYI, snow is forecast for this weekend...we were smiled upon...Take care!

Iffy--now I'm embarrassed! Didn't mean to be a 'piggy', but haven't had that much music fun in years--literally! Thanks for putting up with me... And, no, I'm not shy...don't meet many strangers either. :p

Lots of wonderful memories--showed some of the guys at work the photos of the scenery--especially the group git photo! Had trouble getting back to reality this morning. 5 am was really early...

Have to thank Karen again, so many new friends. Still processing it all! The way I'm going, I won't be jr for very long...

Will continue to pray for your quick recovery--and that the doc puts you back together very carefully!

Cheryl :D

My statement was an observation, not an indictment. :D Now if you sing like me, then you would have a reason to be embarrassed!

And how often was the guitar your Academy? How can such a cheap guitar be so much fun to play? (The rest of the time it was g8r's 87C)

Keith,
My wife and I were really impressed by the pictures of your cabin and the beautiful country around it. I thought Idaho was remote. She used to vacation in the Smokies when her family lived in the Midwest. We were hoping to get over that way when we were in Charlotte this summer, but ran out of time.
I had to scroll fast through the pictures of all those scruffy looking old guys, so she wouldn't think I was hanging out with a bunch of bums. I told her it was a hillbilly theme.

A Halloween party would have some better costumes. You guys had the scruffy old guy thing down, especially the one with you in the cast, Iffy. I really liked the tent city picture. Beautiful setting that almost made me want to start camping again.

And from what I heard, they were COLD FEMA tents. There was room in the cabin loft with me, Mark, and it was toasty with the wood burning stove down below.
