Any of you close enough to get together and jam and share? You are in between Hurricanes, why not a Florida Jam! Or would that be marmalade?

Jeff declared early on that he would only sell to other OFC members to share the joy.....to me a monumental but very heartwarming gesture...even though he knew he could sell it for more on ebay. I believe Jeff even said he would keep it before he would sell it on ebay in the hopes that an OFCer down the road would be able to buy it. OK....I am through with praising Jeff....but the 1537 is awesome, one of my top 3 that I have in the stable.

Ask your wife, do some research, bid on the 597...do what you need to. If playing before you buy is a requirement, I'm sure we could work something out.

Say, anyone like the sound of 'Blackbird' on the uke, or is it just me? ;0

But, soon realized that $2199 was a little overpriced. I started seeing a bunch of them on eBay from $1000 -$1300. Even saw one for sale on the OFC! Of course, by now my guitar money had gone to fixing kids cars and such. Now, my guitar budget is finally almost back and not a W597 to be found! I'm trying to be patient. But I'm starting to bid on stuff again. Like I mentioned, my guitar budget is not quite back, so my interest depends on how high the price goes. I'm guessing I'll just wait for a W597. W597 on eBay :D :D :D

Waaaay back in the spring of '92 I fell in love with a new Chevy pick-up on the lot. I just could not swing it at the time. I went back to look for a wife car in the fall. That red & white truck was still there 6 months later. My wife said she would keep her car a while longer and that I should go get that truck. I put 235,000 miles on that truck. It was the best vehicle I have ever owned. There Designzilla....use that story with your wife. Every little bit can help.

I had quit playing for 4 or 5 years and she decided to redecorate my office by hanging up those guitars that had been in the closet in cases. I work at home and she said I needed a creative outlet. And I'm a graphic designer! She has mentioned a few times I have wall space for a couple more guitars. She's the Best!

You can get them for the same price range as the W597 but they are a hell of a lot more rare. It would be an easy choice for me. Dave

I know what I want and manage to find it and now you tempt me with a beautiful looking guitar that everyone swears sounds better. And I can actually get it for less money! Like I said in earlier posts the selection of nice Ovations to play in Orlando is pretty small. So I only know of those I've been able to play I loved the W597. Now you've got me thinking again. Oh man, my head hurts.

If you look at the collections that I have, Dave has, Tony, etc.....and we are all saying that the 1537 is a better sounding, rarer guitar for less money..... Check out Dave's site (standingovation) at www.ovationgallery.com The man has every desirable Ovation ever made and some that even the factory denies making!! Since you are a new member of the OFC family, we are merely trying to give you the benefit of our wisdom and ears....specially since the choices of seeing them in person is slim where you are located.

So I really appreciate the advice. And this may be the only guitar I buy this year. So I'm starting to lean toward the 1537...

What I liked about the W597 was the nice full sound. It had good volume when played acoustically and it sounded great plugged in. I really liked the way the neck felt. When I started my New Ovation search (my Quest) it had easily been 10 years since I had played any roundbacks other than my '73 Ovation, and I was surprised how different the necks felt from guitar to guitar. How hoes the sound and feel differ? I'm thinkin if everybody tells me the 1597 is so much nicer, I'd be crazy to get the W597. Although, I would probably be really happy with either one.
