Joined: July 2003 Posts: 1922 Location: Canton (Detroit), MI | "Old Applause Owner" refers to the fact that my first Ovation/KMC product (which I still own) was an old (1976-vintage) Applause AA14-4. They don't come much older than that!!!! I'm actually 51......the name was not meant to refer to my age!!!! Roger

Nothing cryptic. Good thing I am not having to think one up now, just finished "The Gulag Archipelago" also read it 30 years ago. No telling what I would have chosen from that list of difficult and tragic names.

I am a Man and I ride a Bent. For those who are not familiar, a bent is a recumbent bicycle. Actually I ride a recumbent trike...a Catrike Speed to be more accurate. Two wheels in the front, one in the back..low and fast.

I guess I wanted to be descriptive of two of the things I love; Gospel Music, (especially the old hymns), and Guitars. And since I am a Guy it's what I chose. I have enjoyed reading the reasons you all have chosen. northcountry beat to one I might have chosen since I used to live several hours away from his home base. I used to sing at a coffee house in Gloversville. and several churches in that area. I DO NOT MISS THE WINTERS.

Joined: February 2005 Posts: 95 Location: central nj | Don't have to explain mine. I was just glad that no one else had already taken it! I am partial to one word logins and "handle names" though. My guitar teacher explained that the fretting hand needs to be conditioned and strengthened to fret string on the guitar neck. Since my left hand is already stronger than my right hand, and right handed guitar was more comfortable to play than lefty, I got a natural "free" jump on things. Playing clean however, well....thank takes practice practice practice. And when you think you have the piece your practicing down pat, go and practice it again and again and again. Enjoyed the thread....it was a great one!!

Joined: August 2002 Posts: 8307 Location: Tennessee | stonebobbo has been following me around since high school. My given name is Robert ... which shortened out to be bobbo as my surfing buds took to calling me. "stone" is an adjective that was used to mean "totally" or "cool" ... think Stone Free by Hendrix. One day while goofing around, one guy announced "It's stone bobbo" when I came into his garage and the name stuck instantly. The name was not influenced by, nor has any connection to, drugs in any form or fashion. I swear. Really. Despite any other life experiences garnered along the way.

After what seemed liked weeks of trying to just get mine name into the system correctly, I finally gave up and just accepted the 28 added to the end of my first name and last initial. After that, having sometimers disease, I started using it for all of my screen names so I would only have to remember all the passwords and not the screen name also.

Over the years, I have enjoyed watching cheesy movies with men in rubber monster suits stomping on model japanese buildings, tanks, cars, etc. I am a multimedia/graphic designer. I started calling my main graphic computer Godzilla. This eventaully became designzilla. And then one day, I became designzilla.

Fred /fred/ noun: Somone with all the newest, neatest, most expensive, best ever gear, and nothing but excuses as to why the hell he can't perform.. (hint, It's alway the stupid new doowhatchamahickey's fault, not mine!!) Actually my name IS Fred, and I ride Mountainbikes. Several people thought I would be a "fred" when I got back into it, because I tended to buy higher-end crap. truth is I was breaking cheap crap (forks, wheels, frames) faster than they could warranty it, so most of it was free up-grades anyway. When I'm in fighting form (not fat like I am now), I like to climb 2500-4000 vertical feet a day on a 35lb bike with 4-5" of suspension and hydraulic disc brakes. "Why would anyone suffer themselves to that kind of torture" you ask? Because in order to make that kind of "vertical", you must be able to descend it as well ;) One of my favorite trails drops close to 2000' in maybe 1/4 mi. Yes allot of it is STRAIGHT DOWN!! you can try emailing mtnbikerfred@(pick your favorite free domain). you'll probably get me.
