I agree with Tony... some stranger is going to come along and grab this for 10 bucks over Nick's limit and some people are going to be kicking themselves in the butt. :(
I'll keep it in the family if it goes over. :D

It's as simple as this - bid how much you are absolutely willing to pay and willing to accept it if someone else bids $5 more. If you lose, don't blame the last minute stranger, blame yourself for not bidding higher. Bidding is like gambling and you have to know when to walk away. You assume you would have won it if you just bid $10 more, but in truth the winning bidder may have put in some astronomical maximum, you'll just never know. The '87 is a really nice guitar and you should just bid what you think it's worth to you. Dave

agree...guess that's why it is called an auction.

remember, these don't go cheap...got to be some wolves circling it as we speak.

for me, I have my abalone Elite thanks to Paul B.

Maybe Noah, Tony and Nick and email each other so they know where the limits are. Then one of them can make a sure grab of this great guitar.

Don't make me get involved!!!!

Be careful, that's getting very close to violating ebay rules, not to say that it does not happen. Maybe a better idea is that Stephen just buy it put all others out of their anxiety. Dave

Stephen already has the '87 Burst Collector's from Sam.
I'll soon be receiving the Bearclaw from Sam.
I would love to see Nick grab this within his limit, but I believe this guitar is surely worth more than $500.
The summer is a time for great finds on eBay because so many people have other things happening.
I'm going to bid what I think it is worth if Nick gets outbid.
An '87 is on many short-lists, but this is a tight time for everyone. Home improvements, school for the kids, saving for the #47 (or OFC'r), etc, etc, are higher up on the lists.
I like the idea of keeping these treasures in the family where they can be passed on when the time is right.

I'd bid the most I thought it was worth in the last half hour. And not a penny more. Don't get sucked into a bidding war. Even if you win, you'll lose.

That's right... decide well in advance and then place your bid.

The real gap in my collection is the lack of a quality multi-hole style guitar. But it won't be this one.
I do have the Booted Celebrity Elite model, but that don't count. However...it is one of a kind. ;)

If you see a bid by Osqueaki or lmprusy, that's my wife buying me an anniversary present. I'm not holding my breath. She did toss in $900 for a 1537 last spring for my birthday, but that was before a lot of other expenses came up.

Gentlemen, if you feel the need, please feel free to bid. I will certainly be bidding on this one, but don't let someone else walk away with it.

Not to be in collusion, but if you see the bidding go past roughly $550, I'm out.

Thanks for waiting though.

nick1961

oops, did I just sign off with my ebay ID?

Dammit.

In the calm before the storm here, please refresh my memory. Beyond this guitar being on the cover of "the book", what makes it so desirable?

I'm just a watcher...adoption agency only when I see the value and no one else "needs" it.

After playing my Custom Elite, I have to believe this is a "player." And a rare one.

The 87 and the book guitar are different. Well as different as Kentucky cousins.

I have never owned one, but have played an '87 and it was very sweet. The Book elite is different as Bill says. Not too different. To me the '87 sounds better, but the Book looks better. To each their own. Dave

Just figured out I was sending the hints to my wife at the wrong email address. Corrected that and have to leave now. Good luck to the rest of you unless my wife decides to bid.

Bid away gents and ladies....

It's a beauty, but it's over $550 my self imposed limit. $500 plus my 10% wiggle room.

35 minutes left.
