It'll be even cooler after I install an extra set of adamas 2 knob electronics in it. Dave

Mine is an Epiphone PR5-E. I'v had it for about 10 years and it has traveled and camped many times. I just can't bring myself to take my Ovation out of the house unless it's going directly to another controlled environment. From a sound perspective, the Eppy sounds like crap compaired to the 778 and I aim to keep it that way. I also have a Seagull 12 string that I sometimes take out. The Ovation is my pride and joy and I just couldn't take a chance of it being damaged by me, someone else or the environment.

Over the years, it has been my 1651 Legend Ltd, but more recently, the Adamas 1581. During the past two weeks, my beater guitar has been Original Slothead No. 43. (Not really, Mark, just a joke!)

I know of no other guitar made on the planet which can take the changes in environment like an Ovation can...In 1988 I was in living in Charlottesville, VA and playing the UVA club circuit...I played gigs 7 nights a week and many days I was able to add gigs in the afternoon before a club date that night. In August of that year, I played a three hour Frat party outside in 102 degree temps w/85% humidity...I went straight to my club gig in air conditioning for 4 hours more...my Pacemaker 1615-4 not only preformed flawlessly, I did not even need to tune it when I go to the club...just on of many times my O's have been bullet proof for me!
I just love 'em!

Blessings...

I'll take the UTE out of the house before the AD-II or the 36 year old Balladeer.

See my siggy. All three of my Ovations are considered "beaters", with the Celebrity being the one in the best shape (and loved the least).

I have a tendency to take the Matrix to the beach, or any other "guitar threatening events". It's been rained on, sun-baked, left in the trunk for days, snowed on.....

Any Adamas over the wood guitars. Near indestructible top and body.

UTE....not really a beater, but the first one to go out and brave the environment.

Honestly, I beat on all my guitars. Guitar is really a percussion instrument. Between the two acoustics, the 1617 Legend is the one I keep at home as a "second" guitar.

My beater is Slothead #35
My best guitar is slothead #36
thirty six is a higher number than thirty five, that's why.

I always thought that Faith was a singer?

OK, the real answer is that my beater is the Tak Blewgrass, either the 360(CT) or 340(FL). Good sound, BIG necks, I can plug them in at the Florida House and they are totally replaceable.

Faith IS a singer, she's with Tim Whatshizname.

Don't have a beater guitar at the moment; really wish I did, though. Right now, Jewel gets played out for church and bluegrass, and Gertrude gets to go to the Mothership for the tour. If I were to get one, though, I'd look for an s/s Elite T; at least it wouldn't kill my shoulder.

Model Rocketry has been a hobby of mine for years.
They DO collect the dust, tho . . .

Probably the guitar that I care the LEAST about is an acoustic-only Pacemaker with a dodgy top that I bought for $75. It hangs on the living room wall and is the one goes to the beach/boat.

The Tak classical is the one next to my computer, is the one that I'll grab to practice/learn a song, and is the one that "travels" to safe destinations. It's small, light, and (in a padded gig bag) will fit easily into an overhead or an airliner closet. It travels well, and just sounds/plays SO nice.

I've also got an Ultra 1515-D 12-string, which is somewhere in NorthCarolina . . (I think).
