Again, Congratulations and best wishes on your new career. As with any other profession there will be good days and those not so good. Those good days can be very rewarding and memorable.

hey phil, that "drug consultation" seems so very long ago. thanks for remembering and for the congrats. i will be studying for the NCLEX exam over the next month and then flying to Honolulu to take it. i completed a predictor test a few weeks ago which indicates the probability of passing the NCLEX the first time. i got a 99%, so am not overly anxious but don't want to be overly confident either.

you may have heard of the new school of pharmacy here that has been named after senator daniel inouye. it is quite a big deal in academics and for the state overall.

as a nurse, one of the things about modern medicine that troubles me is the high incidence of polypharmacy. this seems to be most prevalent in hospitals that employ hospitalists.

anyway, thanks for the encouragement and it is good to see you still on board here, phil. aloha!

Congratulations on your success and career choice. I love Hawaii and I would love to be able to find employment there and be able to live there. Though for now a trip or two per year will have to suffice ...

Randy, good to hear from you. I was wondering (literally) this morning, what became of you. Thought about you from reading the Manifesto (OMA posted a link). Glad you're back.

I'm assuming that you played slack key for your graduation?

Nursing is a sweet choice of careers but like so much else it is changing fast. Much of the time we used to spend hanging with patients now is spent in front of a computer (if it ain't charted it wasn't done). Nevertheless congratulations and enjoy every millisecond of your upcoming career.

Randy, you need a vacation, come on out for the 20th. There'll be plenty of 6 strings.

Welcome back

my last "vacation" associated with this forum was less than desirable...but well-deserved!

Rats!! I don't do facebook.

thinkin' i will delete my FB since i am out of school now and do the YT thing again. i don't do tablature so the video(s) should assist in learning this relatively easy manner of playing guitar. "minimum effort, maximum pleasure": another reason it is called slack key! : )

Good to hear from you again...congrats on the degree....fyi - both school and work can put a dent in productive guitar playing....see you over on facebook.

thank you ever-so-kindly, elgin. on the other hand, guitar playing can put a dent in productive school and work. i prefer to opt for the latter, however my wife doesn't see things my way all the time (or much at all...)

I tried to find that beautiful slack key video of the song you allowed me to learn so Nancy and some of the others who haven't heard it yet could check it out, but I can't find it. Could you post it for us here?

I've been searching in vain for that one too! I'm learning slack key at the moment and would love to hear it.

So, welcome back! Congrats on the graduation! :D

mahalo eynowd! there are numerous slack key instructional vids on yt. i am not real good at guitar instruction but will re-post my songs on yt soon and provide a link in this thread.

thanks d'ovation. school was a success but amidst the shortage of nursing staff on this island, there are actually more layoffs occurring, or the local hospitals are preferring to hire traveling nurses hoping to contain costs. i am considering relocating to another island or to the mainland to gain experience by working in a training hospital.
kinda crazy having to make decisions like this at 58 years of age...

(not sure why i am responding to d'ovation but the quote from your post says "merlin666")

hi moody,
i cringed reading your post! that you should automatically think of me while reading the manifesto is...(i can't find the right adjective.) but then you wrote you were glad i was back and that made me issue a sigh of relief.

the song i wrote for my graduation is actually country-flavored. it is a talking song similar to "uneasy rider" or even "a boy named sue".

hi nerdydave,
so you are a "registered nerd"? you are so right! spending time milking the "cow" in order to get reimbursement and to keep from getting sued takes precedence over therapeutic time at the bedside. nevertheless, thank you.
