All I'm hoping for is that DW wants to make a great sounding acoustic guitar, not just a stage guitar that sounds great plugged in. But it's going to be interesting to see who they indentify as their target market. It may not be old farts like me, but rather the up and coming hot dogs. We'll see......

But the old farts are the ones who have the money and are willing to buy the big buck product

The Old Farts are going to be the hardest sell too. They know these guitars inside and out, the history, the people who made them. The new guitars will have to meet or beat the quality of the ones made in the Heyday for them to jump on the bandwagon.

My understanding is that F***** never gave a rodent's rump, My hopes are high for DW!

This is one old fart who is waiting with baited breath. From what I hear about DW I am pretty certain the quality will be good and I KNOW I'm going to have to have at least one. And I've been such a good girl lately. I think I've only bought one new guitar in the past year or so.

Now, aside from that I'd like to say that one of the reasons Ovations of old were so good was because we CARED. Not only did the musicians who worked there care, but even the non-musicians cared because Charly and that other guy treated us right. We were like family and we really WANTED to put out a quality product. If DW treats their employees as well as we were treated they will have employees who are dedicated, loyal, and willing to do their very best every day.

Another flash from the past. This thread is bringing out the old timers. That may be a good sign for DW. I think I zipped right past the "old farts who have money" stage, though.

I was tipped off to the thread by a good friend who has been lurking for a lefty. Kinda tuned out after the Fender episode. I'm an older fart who doesn't have money, but has four nice Ovations. That keeps me interested. I hope all is well with you.

Things are fine here, just not enough time to play. Some things stay the same.

Mark - Busy can be good. I've heard that it's still possible to occasionally make an honest living as an attorney. ;-)

But is it possible to make a living as an honest attorney?

Isn't using "honest" in the same sentence as "attorney" a contradiction in terms?

Of course, maybe this is why MIB can't afford to fix his lawn (some of us still remember Mark).........

Just like the old days. The old farts come out for the easy lawyer bashing jokes.
We sold that house recently and the new owners wanted the names of the people who took care of the yard and pool. We gave them our names. They haven't hired us yet. I might make more money at that job.

I'm wondering what sort of attention a banjo playing lawyer would attract.

ps I'm not a lawyer.

I know a couple. They don't think the banjo jokes are funny. I read an article in the paper today about a banjo toss. The winner through his banjo 85 feet and got a new banjo for it. What's the point of that?

What do you say to someone who can hit a dumpster with a banjo at 85 feet? Great shot!

Mark: I apologize, kinda, for opening the door to cheap attorney jokes. My bad!

well... if there were a dozen entrants tossing banjos, it's very likely that there are eleven fewer playable banjos in the world now.

Devious contest!

Hey, I'm hoping that since DW makes great drums, and since banjo heads are basically drum heads, when they start making Ovations again they'll come out with an Ovation banjo. They can send the first one to me and I'll be happy to test it for them.

I just noticed I wrote "through" instead of "threw". I guess I deserve all the abuse you can throw at me.
