I'm just thinking about bringing a bunch of empty cases...

Ideas include:

Kayaking the Skagit to Puget Sound
Next day outing to the EMP in Seattle
Outlet Malls

None of that includes the word pub. Some mistake surely?

S'okay. I'll bring the beer. aGAINnnn.
(and a better quality, now that I appreciate what the Portland crew actually understand about beer.)

Yep, ferry is "come get me" distance, no problem.

Some other features of the area, all within range are everything from Mount Baker, Vancouver Zoo, the town of Anacortes (very cool place), Deception Pass, LOTS AND LOTS of fresh fruits and veggie places, flowers, wineries, a fun Alpaca ranch, Historic La Conner, Chuckanut Drive, state forests, parks, ... it's really so hard to describe what to do here as there is so much. None of it really "over the top" but all very very fun no matter what your interest.

Stay tuned...

We put a couple bikes on the back of the 911 and had a nice little vacation in the San Juans one year. We've got a couple friends with boats up there and I'd like to try some sailing. I highly recommend that over the outlet malls. You can do that in Arkansas.
Bring a van over and load up the guitars. I'll loan them to you till I get back. The usual rental fee is new strings. Waskel threw in a new battery. About half of them are overdue for string changes, so I'm up for a rental program. Of course, if you want to get away from it all, there's always Idaho.

Sounds GREAT to me. However, i'm in the middle of a move. But if that calms down i'm definitely in.

I'm down to one Ovation and trying to sell that, but can i still come?

i'd like to see John and Miles put on a home recording workshop too. Possible?

Mike - Skagit County has a great bike route that goes through most the places Mr Ovation discussed. It's also very mild on the uphill jaunts.

Gee, he didn't mention scenic Whidbey Island.

Do you actually have to be able to play the guitar to attend? Usually I avoid any situation that requires real guitar playing. If there's a chord noodling and repetitive scale playing event I'm OK.

Scenic Whidbey Island. Yes... If anyone needs to book a room, and you have money to burn, try the Inn at Langley. Very nice, though maybe too far from the get together (beer, wine, gin... not a good mix with a drive)

Hmmm
- No you don't have to play to come, but after awhile, you'll probably want to.

- Some OUT-STANDING roads for motorcycle and bicycle rides. Arguably the #1 road in the Pacific Northwest for motorcycles starts here in Mount Vernon (to Winthrop) although it may not be completely open in July. In any case, if some bikes show up, I'd be more than happy to lead a ride, or just give-ya a map. Heck, just going to the Grocery store can be gorgeous ride here.

- Home recording class... Interesting Idea. The Studio itself probably won't be ready by then, but then again, most people don't have a "studio" in their home, so I can just use my laptop and can even project it on the big-screen in the living room. GOOD IDEA. That would be fun.

Robust reds are not "dainty". Bold is a better word...

Since I'm so close I could help out. I have a portable Mac based setup I can bring along if you like. Audio interface, near field monitors, midi usb keyboard and or guitar, and can show Garageband and Logic.

Let me know, it's easy to throw it all in the back of the Trailblazer.

Damon, that MAY be like bringing sand to the desert but.....?

Recording projects make my ears perk right up, of course.
But I'm coming for the cheese, like any good Canadian!
Yes, yes, wine is fine if you like. I do, and
make my own....it's just not funny enough.

Miles: re: studio.
What's left to do? Should I bring tools?
(May be able to bring Big Dave....not so sure

Geez, I give you guys straight-lines and all I get is eager beaver boyscouts. What happened to the real OFC?

Anyway. This sounds like a real good idea, because it's about 5 1/2 hours closer for me. Still a 5 - 6 hour trip but easier to do in one day than the Portland get-together. (as much fun as that was.)

....Maybe not so much for Miles, but he's
acclimatizing quickly. (it's incurable a.f.a.I.k.)
