Just when I start feeling like I know way too much about Ovations and their history, somebody chimes in with a bit of trivia like the tuners on this prototype and it makes me feel fairly normal again, like I'm not quite as anal as I thought......

For those who couldn't afford an original, the reissue may be the next best thing. I can't imagine anyone thinking they'd rather have a reissue than an original, but I've often been wrong, especially concerning marketing.

For example, if Mercedes would make a reissue of the 300 SL Gullwing, it would have an Airbag, Servo-Steering and lots of other electronics, that won't give you the feel of theoriginal car that it's supposed to be. Different with guitars. Okay, the OFX Slothead had the newer electronics, but in all other things it was quite near to the original pre-series guitars. And I am happy to have the chance to get one of this great sounding guitars today. Just because of the sound they provide, not for the history. And with Al making it possible to order one of them in the colour you want, like my 1187-7, that suits your own wishes - it's even better. Not because it's a fake original, but you'll get a guitar that has the sound the factory doesn't list on stock anymore. Kurt

The reissues are wonderful guitars in every way. But the originals have more soul. You choose. Dave

If anyone has better pics, or better still a drawing, that would help. If they can be made they would need to be pre-ordered, I'm not going to have a bunch of these made on that chance that some people "might" buy them. Once I know If they can be made, and I have a price, I can take orders. I'll need orders for 6, maybe 10 sets to make it viable
