Getting up into the price range of another one I've been offered by an OFCer. All things considered I'd rather deal in the family. Plus the one offered here has had the full spa treatment. It would be nice if someone here gets this eBay one. If it's truly as the seller's described to me it's in near mint condition.

Another one going to Portland. I may have to send mine back for a refurb before I dare bring it over there again.

Office is on NE 122nd near Glisan. Home is out by Glendoveer off Glisan. The sunny east side.

Small world. I grew up and went to school in Parkrose.
Spent many a dark night running around in Glendoveer...

Before I acquired my last 50 pounds I ran Glendoveer every day. Had to get up early and usually ran off the trail in the dark into a tree or bush on the big hill on the east end. How long ago were you at Parkrose? They used to have some killer basketball teams. Now they lose at pretty much everything.

There weren't any walking trails in Glendoveer when I was 'running' around there. If I remember correctly, they would get pretty upset at us for just being there, seeing as how it was usually about 2 am and we were running with 6-packs in our hands...

I graduated from Parkrose in 72. We not only had killer teams, we had the second biggest graduating class in their history, and the worst reputation in the city for drugs and picking fights with other schools.

Ah, the good old days...

Well, you were probably running into trees too.

We were pretty close to that area last weekend. Stayed with my brother who lives on Sacramento at about 70th, right above a golf course. He doesn't golf, though. He's smarter than I am.

I thought it was Rose something, but I was doing well to remember Sacramento. Got semilost a couple times, so I saw quite a bit of the neighborhood.

The good, the bad, the ugly.

The good: The '87C arrived yesterday. It was a little grimy but looks in generally unplayed condition, no fretware, no wear or dings on the headstock, neck or fretboard. The top is pristine (except as outlined below, the bowl as well.

The bad: There was about a 3/4 inch chunk chipped out of the top finish about dead center on the low edge of the top the exact width of the abalone. No wood involvement. Cost of repair $125 at 12th Fret here in Portland. Also a few cracks along the white fretboard binding, but nothing serious.

The ugly: The case looks like it was left out in the rain for a year or two. Every metal surface on the case was rusted. The inside is fine.

So, another example of caveat emptor on ebay. But not a bad deal all considered. Haven't checked the electrics but the sound is about the same as my N768, pretty darn good.

Anybody got a case they want to sell? And what type case would it use, black, tan? Anyone know the case number? John

Glad to hear the wood wasn't damaged, and it can be repaired.

The 12th Fret's still around? Are they still on 13th & Powell?
I bought my first new guitar there (12 string 'Cimar').

Just buy a new case from Al. The new cases are much nicer than the old ones.

Cracks on the binding are a part of life. I wouldn't worry about it.

87C's are such great guitars. As beautiful to look at as they are to play....

Yeah, there's birdseye maple on the epaulets and it's a very classy looking guitar with the abalone on the fretboard like the Nakao's, the CL type bridge and burled walnut headstock. I'd like to find one of the catalogs like they have on the ovationtribute site. Anyone have one?

12th Fret is on 24th and Belmont. They've had two or three locations over the years. Nice people.

Does anyone have an 87C that doesn't have some hairline cracks on the binding? I have never seen one.

Before I actually took possession of my 87C several years ago, it went to the factory where they put on a NOS neck and IT had cracks in the binding. It just gives it personality.......
