It gets gigged weekly at college either at one of the local businesses or on campus. Sara is a co-founder of a music performance club which has acquired a bit of equipment like a PA and mics, and they have regular shows in a nice R&R facility on campus. That guitar is a part of her now.

I had it fitted with an OP-24 along the way - I needed better eletronics than the dual knobs provided- and the OP-24 was what was available at the time. When it came back from the mothership - it just had the generic 1687 label - no number - no sig....I didn't care...it was my pit musician's steel string axe. Fast forward to several years ago - I learn of the 30th anniversary...learn about this board....me and this guitar (well the guitar really) were invited to the slothead reunion. I sent the guitar ahead of me so they could research it....met Al, Beal, Kummer, Keller, Darren, Cliff, MWong, etc...the mothership pulled it apart - and based on the interior pencil labeling - determined it to be # 43. The original story is it went out to Nancy Wilson - and she sent it back - and they later sent her 44. No documentation of that other than shipping returns from Ray Gandick at the factory. Nick who helped build them was on the tour and said it could have happened ----he said in fact that happened a lot. Official docs say Nancy got 44. There are videos out on youtube now of her playing a slothead prior to the release of #44....which came out a couple months after #s 41, 42, and 43. Either way - at the reunion based on Darren's research and part number record verification - it was determined to be # 43 - Beal put his pen to the label - wrote 43 and his signature. I have - or Cliff maybe has a photo of that happening. I still have the guitar...it is still my primary player....though I would not consider myself a primary player anymore. All that began the great friendships which continue today with those mentioned - but add Slipkid, Musicmike, beggin, professor, stephent, allison, flysig, iffy witko, temp, mattsmith, brad davis, Jon P,,,Darby ...well...and many others. Stories like these abound with these guitars and is what has made this board very special to me....anyone wanna share another story.....I wanna find the brown slothead that Cat Stevens got....now that he has reappeared among the performing....anyone know where that one is?

Ah, forget it. Three strikes and yer out. Too much hassle trying to size a picture down to the size allowed here... Edited by stonebobbo 2012-02-24 2:33 PM
