$3 a-piece, eh, Dave??
No WONDER I was handing-out "refunds" over th'course of th'night & LOST money on th'deal.

Yeah Jeff, "Networking" is whole NUTHER gig on it's own. On THIS particular one, I'd had this decent pic that a local photog-friend had taken from a previous gig, & worked-it-up into an "ad" that went to the venue, my webpage, MySpace, FaceBook, blanket e-mail, etc. THAT was probably th'impetus for such a decent "turn-out".

It was a "nice" place, and was somewhat centrally-located to everyone, so it was a good one to "promote".

Usually, I just don't go thru all th'trouble. Firstly, I don't really like sending people stuff like that & putting them on-th'spot to where they feel "obligated". Secondly, THESE people are all around th'same "Age" that I AM. How many of YOU guys're in the habit of driving a half-hour to a bar somewhere where the "entertainment" starts at 9:30-10:00?? I had a COUPLE of comments that I was STARTING "past Their BedTime . . ."

That's why I generally play a two-hour FirstSet for all of the "Oldsters"(like myself), then it's good-bye hugs&kisses during th'break, and then th'SecondSet to try & keep "th'Kids" there till 2a.m. (That's when th'REAL "Work" starts) . . .

. . . mebbe I AM "TooOld" fer ThisSh!t . . . .

Good for you. I'm still going at 59 and loving it. Most of the places I play are little upscale restaurants, bistros, cafes and coffee houses, and I travel light with a Roland AC 60 acoustic chorus amp. It works great for what I need. I play a lot of private gigs also - especially in the summer. And Christmas parties. I pick where I want to play, which keeps it fun and interesting.

Still get creaky back and knees, though. :D

That's a good point. Do you guys stand or sit when you play? I don't think I could stand and play for hours, I would have to sit....but I sing better when I stand (opens up the lungs or something?)

I sit and use a folding chair like Neil Young when I have 3 and 4 hour gigs. More comfortable than a stool. I'll stand on a short gig because it looks cooler. :D Really haven't noticed a difference with lung capacity whether standing or sitting.

Creaky back and knees comes from loading out and in, not playing. :D
