And I'm back to it as well. I was sitting and working on a Jerry Reed tune (Reedology) and my wife says, "don't bother with that stuff. Play stuff that people know". So I guess I'm done looking for that 4th chord.......

Hey, I had a talk with "Sir Iffy The Organized", (you can call me "Lady Confusion Of Canterbury") and he has offered his services in keeping things on track. He made a spreadsheet and everything. SO - if you're coming, please let IFFY know. I REALLY need to find out how many need a motel before it's too late to get a group rate, or even get you into the same place. I'm going to reserve a block of tickets for the concert too. So please, let Iffy know so he can pass all the info along to me SOON. Thanks!

Alison, is there an open mic Friday night? Perhaps it is a confabulation on my part, but there is a dim recollection of you mentioning something about such a thing in your earlier posts.

Basically I'm wondering how much preparation I need to do so that I don't totally embarrass myself. Just jamming is no problem. Open mic will require some preparation.

Speaking of jamming, will there be a song list that maybe we could all work from so that we have some common tunes to play on Friday at the shop?

I THOUGHT we would be doing an open mic, but the Flatiron has gone out of business! So, it's looking like one big jam session. I think somebody is bringing a book with the songs that usually get played at gatherings. If you (and I mean all or any of you) have specific things you'd like to play, maybe you could bring copies for everyone else.

Hmm, Sir Iffylot. I like that. ;)

I'll be sending an email to those that have shown any interest in attending the gathering. If you do not receive my questionnaire by Friday, please LMK!

I'll be using emails in that it will be easier to collect pertinent info in a 'folder'.

For additional local info, please contact the 'Lady Confusion Of Canterbury'.

Karl (Charlie Ramon) over in Germany has the best song book I've seen and it's in English. About 4 hours worth of 60s and 70s etc. standards. Too bad Karl couldn't bring it, along with his great voice and guitar playing. The only problem I had with the book was that it wasn't in "senior font", so when I had my face in the book, Karl had trouble seeing it.
Iffy, send me an email anyway, so I can just beat myself up over not being able to go.

Once you've moved on to Depends, "seats" are irrelevant.

I'm still thinking about how to make this work, so if gh1 or numbfingers or anyone else is thinking about driving through Boise, please send me an email when you have details.
I can also get a pretty cheap flight to Denver, so if a Denver person is planning on driving and has an extra seat, email me and let me know if you want to pick me up at the airport and split gas money.

Mark, I am not sure when Lia and I will be heading up or returning.

We want to see Mt Rushmore and some of the other area sites so we will probably be there for 4-5 days and I am not sure if it will be before or after the clinic/concert.

How about starting a potential song list? Perhaps we could find a bunch of songs that overlap our individual repertoires and/or interests.

When is the concert on Saturday? I'm currently leaning toward driving over Friday or early Saturday, spending a day or two in the Black Hills and then driving to Chicago. This might be only the second or third time in 32 years I'll take 2 weeks off in a row, so I'm still struggling with the concept.
I'm also trying to talk SWMBO into riding along, since she has to be in Chicago on Thursday and we honeymooned in the Black Hills and haven't been back since. I think she's afraid of you guys. Actually, she just has no interest in guitars, and very little interest in music, plus she gets her flight paid to Chicago, so riding for 20 or so hours in the car isn't too interesting for her.

Plus of course, your "homemade" songs. If you are attending the workshop, have a song ready to be critiqued. It could be something you have completed, or something you are working on that you think could use a little help. Have about 20 copies of the lyrics to hand out. If it is a song that you do with full band, it's OK to bring a tape or CD of your song, although it's more fun to do it live IMO. Of course you won't just learn what you could do to "punch up" that one song. You will learn how to listen to yourself with a more constructively critical ear - things you can apply to future songs. It's going to be so much fun!

Ooh - it worked! Hit the songs and pictures button. Scroll down. Then listen to your heart's content. Check out the song "Open Mike". I swear I used to KNOW that guy!

Besides Mt. Rushmore, Chief Crazy Horse is also must for Patty and me! I'm also hoping for some dark sky gazing with my just acquired Nexstar 4.

Oh man,
I've been wanting an 8-12" Celestron for the last 25 years. I took astronomy in college and I have been in love ever since.
I can never seem to pull together 3-4K unless it's for a guitar ;) .
That Nexstar4 looks pretty cool.

Don't be surprised if I'm leaning over your shoulder all night long!
