Well, the Ovation Facebook page said it was going to be a big week. Wonder if anything else is in store? (How's that for sounding like late Christmas afternoon? :D )

Great start. There are a lot of models I know nothing about. Must be some young folks in the web shop. Good websites are always works in progress. Some of us have experience with their custom shop. They're great. Dealer intervention is required and Al has always been able to get it done for me.

I like the phrase "Go against the grain". I think that will catch the eye of a lot of young people. There's a reason you are seeing a lot of body piercings and tattoos nowadays. Perhaps they should call the guitar archives section "the old guy's page" (:

Looks like we're discovering that SOME Change is good.

Great... so much for seeing it work anymore. It doesn't support IE6. Nice.

And I don't get a new computer until next year.

I don't use IE, but I have it. It keeps asking me if I wanna upgrade to IE8.
Joe, you should be able to upgrade for free!

But I recommend http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/

Firefox eats IE for lunch!
Switching to Firefox made my internet experience sooo much better.
And it was recommended by a fellow OFC'r and I appreciate it!

The wave of the future at the moment (and I do mean at this moment) does NOT include IE. I have some reliable info, easily checked, that much of the new online technology (drupal and such) that the W3C is in the process of looking at for the HTML5 standard does NOT work on IE.

I just checked the OvationGuitars site, which seems to use some of the new standards (cudos). Firefox, Safari and Chrome, all on a PC, but does NOT work with IE.

It also works ok (not formatted correctly but works) in Opera on my phone, but not IE.

I'd like to see the Guitar Archives section re-indexed by model types i.e., all the different Elites,Legends,Custom Legends(I only saw one on the site)Celebs, Baladeers, Classicals, Folklores, Solid Body Electrics, Jazz Guitars, Basses, and so on. To someone not knowing the model numbers, it's a bit confusing.

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for detailed historical information to be added. That's the past. This has the feel of a full-out brand re-boot. Let's be glad of that.
Re-boots can be good. Look at Star Trek.

That being said... the site seems to lack info about Adamas.

What on the new OVATION site doesn't work with IE?

Have checked on 2 PC's here both running IE7 (won't install IE8 as that is a Vista/Windows7 bugfest...) and haven't found any pages so far that won't load or contain 'weirdnesses'.

IE6 came with Windows98, right? (I liked that maze screen-saver that came with W98! )

I thought the Reboots were on Doctor Who.

I can see if from MY laptop, but the company one is locked down... not upgradeable. So no more research from the office.

Why Ovation blocked IE6 does make me curious.

Website works on the iPhone, but only in the full website mode. They need to push it out to a mobile device format as well if they want to get in sync with the majority of their target markets.

If you click on Players, then click on Al Di Meola, there's one video of him. Funny, he's not playing an Ovation.

They blocked it so they don't have to answer a bunch of questions about they it looks they way it would if you were able to view in IE6.

We have the same issue where I work with an application that doesn't work on a MAC browser. If you bypass the "you must use IE" (in our case) all you get is a blank screen. So rather than give the customers a blank screen, they are provided information on what will work. I'm sure it's a similar situation with Ovation.

And lets face it. If you are still using IE6, than the fine enterprising folks in China and Russia have access to your bank accounts and it won't be long before you can't afford a guitar anyway. :)
