Some day I'll have a guitar fund for stuff like that, but I know that I'll just keep finding stuff like that to deplete the guitar fund as soon as I build it up.

They went onto say that you couldn't do it today and had to pass, thus the guitar was available. So I jumped and the guitar is now in the OFC. Stay in touch, we may be able to work something out per our earlier discussions. This will give me two Fud's, so one will go.(soon) Blues

They even declined my offer to put down half as a deposit. They called me today and told me they had a buyer and if I could not buy it immediately, they would sell it. Yesterday, I was assured that would not happen. I don't blame you for jumping on it of course, I was trying my best to jump as well. I'm only ticked at GC for going back on their word and making up a story for you that made them look above board. I don't particularly care for liars, and that's exactly what this salesman was. Please be assured I harbor no ill feelings toward you.

But to be honest, with all due respect Ovations version is not one of the better ones I've played. I can see the PM's already queueing up "Well, you haven't heard MY 97 Collector!". Yeah, fine. I'm glad for you. what's the scoop on those parlors? The issue for me is two-fold. 1) The 97C has a pretty deep body (is it mid?) and the itty-bitty parlor size soundboard so the ratio of depth to soundboard dimension feels way off to me. It was very difficult for me to get comfortable playing it. Maybe that's just me. 2) The top seemed too heavily braced for it's size. I know the engineering guys probably did their homework and it's as it should be. But it just seems dead compared to other small bodied guitars with light bracing. The sound seems to "jump" from them. The sound "spills" from the 97C. 3) the bonus issue - the electronics do not work ... at all ... never ... ever. Now, on the positive side 1) the 97C comes with the best case that Ovation ever offered. Equal in quality to Martins high end cases. 2) the 97C prices have not held up well at all and you get them used at some really great bargins. Totally biased opinion, BUT .... although it's 2-3 times the price of a 97C, the Takamine 417 blows it away from every direction since Sunday. A work of sonic and visual art with extremely high quality construction. But don't get me wrong, the 97C is fine and I would put it in the "nice guitar for the money" catagory. Just my 2 sense.
