Hey Tin Man, I think you left something at the Wizard's place.

Fletcher, make the most of every day, hope the docs are wrong, and try to ignore Moody…

…you're in our thoughts and prayers.

Fletcher, sorry to hear that. Now I wish I'd made more of and effort to meet you when we were visiting our daughter in Ft. Bragg a couple weeks ago.

I love this bar. (right genre, wrong singer..I know)

Thanks Moody for saying the kind of thing I'd been trying to myself.
Mentioned my late buddy a bit before; that was his main complaint
about LIVING with a fatal condition.
Everyone walks on eggshells and is so damned sombre and weepy.

There's still all sorts of gallows humour to invoke,
and where the hell do you think it comes from?
Laugh at death and it shrinks in size.

fletcher, think you can make it to Damons' in August?
I can teach you to play bagpipes to every song you've ever known.
(pipes in this hand, matches in this hand.)

When my dad was dying (and knew it), he'd get pissed when friends would come in and pray for healing.

Life is what it is and there's no getting out of it alive. Might as well keep a smile as long as possible.

Take a look at my signature. The date is the day that a good friend (and a member of this board) died. I worked hard until that day to always put a smile on his face and make him laugh. Can't do that being down.....

I wonder what's going on with Glen's website? It was taken over by Surfdog Records, his new label, for a facelift and to promote the new record but that was over a week ago.

It is frustrating right now, especially, not to be able to check in and commiserate.

Bobbo;

No, I don't think so. The site has been appropriated by Surfdog to direct any traffic (which right now would be more than usual) to a promo page hawking the new record. I have never seen a marketing approach like this before.

Glen and his estate could really use the money, I'm sure.

What is a website to any commercial artist BUT a method of moving product? Modern artists use it as part of the whole process of connecting to their supporters, yes. But we're not talking about a modern artist.

(and, of course, there is the not-inexact perception that marketing people have no shame... ...that the easily shamed would notice.)

What I meant is that maybe they want to tweak the message and update the tour stuff and overall marketing campaign before launching ... this was pretty big news and is a total game changer. If I was Surfdog, I would not want to be in a position when I could be perceived by Glen's legions of fans as being insensitive, mercenary, and opportunistic. I know it was billed as Glen's final album already, but still, things are different now that they've gone public. Glen's got some real good people around him, and they'll make sure things are done right.

You know something about their financial condition? I suspect that Glen's pretty well squared away....

Yep, he's paid a couple of divorce settlements over the years but I suspect he still has a gazillion or two left over.

I am very saddened to read of your prognosis, Fletcher (Kevin). I will always think of you when I play or listen to music and I will always think of you as kind and
sweet. My hearts hurts deeply tonight at this devastating
news, and I feel terribly helpless. I am SO sorry. You are and will remain in my thoughts, my friend.

Fletcher, I am so sorry to hear about your illness. I pray that each day is special, each sun rise is bright and each moon is full. You are in our prayers brother, and hope fully the Doc's are wrong and you get a few more years with your family and friends. God be with you.

AJ,

You WERE so lucky to get to meet him when you did! That's a great photo. I seem to remember one with him and Brad (Professor BB) too ... that's was also a very good shot. My favorite of all of his hits is "Gentle on my Mind" and of course "By the Time I Get To Phoenix" ... my siblings and I used to line up on the floor in front of the television to watch his show, 'cause Mamma would NEVER miss that program. The good part of it all is that G,C, has always been a gifted, seemingly down-to-Earth, successful musician/performer that brought MUCH, MUCH happiness to other people.
Sad news nevertheless.

(And Kevin, I mstakenly wrote 'hearts', but alas as far as I know I only have one. If I did have more than one, they would ALL surely be hurting, my friend). I am thinking of you; every day).

;)

January, 2007 . . . he did a concert backed up by the Colorado Symphony Orchestra at Boettcher Concert Hall in the Denver Performing Arts Complex, where I have a little influence. Stephen and I and our wives went back stage before the concert and took some photos with him and he signed one of my guitars I had stashed next to his dressing room. Then we had front row center tickets for the concert. He recognized us during the show and stuck the microphone in our faces during Rhinestone Cowboy. I hope we didn't disapoint. We saw him again last year when he appeared at the Denver Botanic Gardens concert series and I met his wife and daughter. He was a real showman.
