Joined: March 2002 Posts: 14842 Location: NJ | WHAT a Place!!!! Just to let you ALL know NOW that I have exclusive DistributionRights(INth'US) for an upcoming BritCom series coming to a local PBS channel near YOU NextYEAR!! . . . This place was(IS!!) ABsolutely Fabulous!! Just got in today at about 5pm (was s'POSEd to arrive @11pm . . YESterday!! . . . MoronThatLater . . .) TheGood: The Weather - (those Palms actually LIVE there!!) Bute DOES kinda' ride the same JetStream(Ithink) as Bermuda . . . SimplyGorgeous!! This TimeOfYear, the sky stays "light" till PAST 11PM!! Paul's neighbor Jerry & his son played a quick couple holes at 10:15 one night!!). After 11, it gets "dark" till about 3:30am, when it starts t'get light again (which was usually when Paul&I finally dragged our asses up the Hill from "thVic" for three consecutive mornings). It was rumoured on the Island that IF Paul HAD "a Soul", he surely sold it for the beautiful weather he gave Susan for their WeddingDay . . TheScenery - BreathTaking!!! Just the view of ScalpsieBay was worth the price of airfare!! I also have some fantastic views from Rothesay Golf Course (right behind Paul/Susan's House). Didn't stay sober long enough to play, but Paul's neighbors, Jerry&Leela took me up to shoot the Views (being that Jerry is the island's undertaker, I was somewhat suspicious that this MIGHT've been the result of a CouncilVote to "dispatch of" the AnnoyingYank with a 9Iron & NoneBeTh'Wiser . . .) ThanksPaul! for going thru the trouble of posting some of the same images that I had intended to . . That saves me the time to post yet some Others that I have . . . The Music - aLOT of people here know how there's NOTHING like playing with Paul. Playing with Paul WITH his BandMates (both Old&New) was absolute Killah!! We had an absolute PISS of a Time!!(and I've got the "CajonBlisters" t'PROVE it!!) TheBad: Thru a Snafu w/Expedia, we got MisDirected to the wrong terminal at Heathrow, missed our connection (we went thru Security FOUR individual times over the course of TWO Terminals - I got frisked twice, Jeanette once) & spent one of the Top10 MostExpenive Nights(based on co$t/sq.ft.) in our relationship together. By the time the BarjhiBus got us to the ComfortInn/Heathrow, we were able to eat, make some needed e-mails, have NUMEROUS StiffDrinks, and grab a few hours of needed sleep before grabbing another flight early the next morning (to JFK . . rather than Newark - which is 20mins. from Home). Thankfully, we didn't have the 39lb. cajon in-tow, (like we did on our way Over) . . The U.S.Dollar=Ouch! The BEST: The People - from the elderly Englishwoman who sat next to Jeanette and squeezed her hand while she prayed during take-off on her way Home after visiting her brother in Ramsey,NJ - to the flinty little old lady behind the counter at the Rothesay Electric Bakery (which sells what I mistook for ChocolateCoissants, but were in actuality baked rolls of pastry filled with sheep scrotum - ThanksAgain,Paul!) - to the Island Undertaker who sings Disney Standards (and rather WELL, I might add) - to Jenny Brown the Octegenarian JazzSinger - to EVEN the annoying Arizona KenDoll (whom we shared the BarjhiBusRide with - while he was touring Europe alone on (what sounded like)his Wife'sMoney . . . AcousticRat:(Paul, Paul("Melvin") with his wife, Joanne; Sam (with his SwingSet & VideoCrew). All of the other musicians: Don (&Liz), Phe & Lois, Fluff, Eric, Mike . . . The PEOPLE that we met over the course of the ENTIRE Time made such a sperm-of-the-moment Trip so worthwhile . . just th'way it's s'Posed t'Be . . Lastly to Paul & Susan for allowing us to come Share&Invade your Home, Lives, & WeddingDay and Truly making feel like "Family". We Miss You Both, Already. c&j

Better plan it soon before the dollar sinks even deeper in the hole and none of use will be able to afford to get over there anymore. The pics are wonderful and the tropical vegetation is still almost unbelievable. I've seen some palms in England, but they were in specially controlled gardens. Sounds like you folks had an absolute blast (sans the airport snafu). Thanks for sharing your adventure with us.

(In hindsight, I shoulda' opened with the Stones' "LetItBleed". . .)

He was also drenched to his chest in a relatively short set. I was actually quite impressed when he was able to sing and play the "drum box thingie" at the same time so well. I had a great time. Thanks PT again for inviting me.

Picked up a bottle of cask-strength Talisker from the distillery. We're going to try to make Islay over the summer, but it's a nightmare to get to, as close as we are.

Joined: March 2002 Posts: 14842 Location: NJ | Epilogue: The Victoria Hotel in Rothesay (where the Templeman fete was held) did a marvelous job with the wedding decorations for the CocktailHour. One of the details was the "sprinkling" of all the cocktail tables with festive "confetti" that was comprised of tiny little shapes (bride/groom, wedding cake, "WeddingDay", etc.) all die-cut out of multi-coloured, metallic mylar. QuiteCute (for the first hour or so . . .) When they start sticking to your bare forearm, or start showing up in your hair, they can become QUITE annoying . . . It was about THEN that the "Evil" switch in my head went off. In retalliation for a broken LatinPercussion "shaker" that we're STILL finding little metal "bits" from in various nooks & crannies of our kitchen, and a ShavingKit filled with freshly-shorn, grey Geordie beard-clippings, I (with the help of Jeanette) went about from table-to-table gathering up these little "sparklies" to go into the pocket of my jacket to later be liberally (albeit steathfully) distributed throughout CasaTemp to serve as a subtle reminder to my first (and NOW probably "last") visit to the UK. I bring this up now, because the initial "sightings" are JUST starting to pop up . . . Let's put it this way, Paul will have more of a "constant reminder" that I was at his WeddingDay, than that Susan was. Cheers,Mate!
