I have always liked joe satrioni, although I think he has a little heavier sound than the ovation.

When I first posted this, I was thinking along the lines of "Name That Tune"... in that, of those guitarists I listed (and others, Keef), I can, within just a coupla notes, know that it is them- even if I haven't previously heard the tune they are playing.

Distinctive because he has the lousiest tone I've heard from a guitarist at that level. However, I haven't heard every last track he's recorded, so I'm still hoping . . .

Well for slide guys Duane is always recognizable as is Sonny and Lowell George. Derek is good with many Duane touches.
One of the best slide solos is the one on Seger's song, Like a Rock.
