By the Way For What It Is Worth In My Honest Opinion, the guitar is worth it if in very good condition.

I love a challenge, thats why I am a struggling musician!!

After 3 hours and 4 minutes of intense effort, the puzzle is revealed. I was awfully close but could not get the word humble and the user Jeff W. to resolve in any meaningful fashion  . Thank you LTPR

Jeff,

Thanks for the Grand Prize - Lifetime Payment of my monthly lifetime dues to the OFC. It was worth cracking my brain to solve it! FYI, I am left handed and according to the latest pole, righty's outlive lefty's, so there may be a few years after I am gone that you will not have to pay anymore.

Later fellas....happy april 1st

Well Steve,
The 1537 on ebay has a liget sn and he quickly answered questions and offered to send more pics. I think I would request the extra pics and see what they look like.

Downside is low feedback. I know that I and Tony and some others have ofter requested a sellers phone number so I could talk to them, ask questions, have them strum the guitar, etc.

If I did not have one, and I got additional photos and talked to the seller, I would probably feel comforatable bidding it up to $1100 or so. Since he takes Paypal, some of the risk is lessened (specially if you pay by cc, then you have cc recourse in the event of fraud).

Plus if you talk to him, he might tell you the reserve price and that should give you an idea if you want it or can afford it.

..yep, he doesn't have any buyers yet...but he sure seems to have the hottest elite out there these days, it'll be interesting to see the bidding in the last 5 minutes of this auction...but, it's out of my league right now, i think i'll wait for a shot at that 1768-C that just relisted...

The relisted 1768 is starting at $200 more than current price of 1537. Don't assume that $750 won't reach reserve. A new ebayer might not realize the value of the 1537.

I would email him and check it out.

I have the current high bid on the 1537 in Moscow and the owner sent me some better pics, showing the neck in great detail and the back, with some significant chips, but none of the front! That made me suspicious. I am trying to have my daughter, who lives in Moscow, check it out, but I haven't been able to reach her and the owner didn't give me his phone number. It should be easy for me to figure out if he's legit, but it hasn't been so far. If it doesn't sell for the reserve, I will try to check it out next week when I will be in Moscow.

sent and rec'd this on 3/30 (although didn't receive the additional photos.)

MY QUESTIONS: do you have a picture showing the bowl area chips? any other damage to the bowl, to include any stress lines? fret wear? any chips and/or scratches? cracks (to include finish cracks)? damage to the wood binding? any separation of bridge? pre-amp working, condition of tone/vol knobs? any repairs that have been made? condition of the OHSC (case)? any chips, scratches, or other damage to the neck and headstock? any separation or damage to the epaulets?

HIS RESPONSE:
I can email you a picture of the bowl area chips. There are no scratches or chips in the finish on the front, back or fretboard or headstock. the pre-amp works good, the tone volume knobs are wood and are in good condition, only one repair was made to the internal electronics, which came separated once, but were promply repaired. The case is in great shape, and there is no separation of the epaulets. I will get that email out to you tomorrow of the bowl

The guy actually sent me some pics (huge ones) of the neck (staight as an arrow) and the bowl (the chips aren't too bad, and exactly as described). I'll show them to anyone who asks. I might make a serious grab for it (#302871).
