Man I had no idea that so much was involved just to become a humble Ovation Dealer.

I must now call on Al to lead meditation.

UMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

(I'm feeling much more peaceful and on a higher plain now)

Well, I was trying to wait for the OFC guitar but then this happened. . .

Brother Bobby made my wallet a lot lighter and I ended up with #64 delivered to my workplace.

I'll post pics if I can figure this stuff out.

Congrats. If I had any cash, you might still be waiting for the OFC guitar instead of me.

I really strongly dislike that red burst. But if the OFC guitar wasn't going to happen, I would have closed my eyes and bought a 47. They are truly great guitars.

I am finding it increasingly difficult to not like the 47. It may be the company I'm keeping lately, but I'm beginning to like the lines and even the color is growing on me. I would love the chance to play one but, on the other hand , it may be better financially if I didn't.

When I look at the December pic in the '07 calendar, I have to remind myself it's that great lookin' dog that draws me to it. (grin)

I hated the redburst, until I got one and the it really starts to grow on you. The reverse burst would also look nice. Actually on a guitar that sounds as good as these, the color is very much secondary. Dave

Ok, I'm the worst photographer in the world and this is the best I could come up with. . .

It obviously looks (and sounds) better than this.

Red is my favorite color. Blue is my wife's, so I'm trying to be a good husband and wait for the OFC. Procrastination has something to do with it, but every time I see another #47 sold I have second thoughts about waiting. I hardly ever plug in and etc.

Mark, grab a 47 before it is too late. There will still be time to grab an OFC guitar but the 47's will be gone very very soon!

Mine plays and sounds amazing and I am glad I did not wait to grab one.

Can someone tell me the difference between the 8158 case and the 9158 case? And which one do I have in the above picture? Whichever case I have, the guitar fits quite snug in there.

I believe the 9158 case has PF embossed on the latches, a smoother "rough case exterior" and a center nylon lid strap instead of a strap on each end like the 8158.
It looks like you have the 9158 case, tiss the same one I got with mine and I know Al didn't dump cases on me :)

I spent a weekend reading the old posts on the OFC guitar. A couple of the threads were over 15 pages long. Basically a #47 in blue with a 2 knob preamp and unknown extra goodies.

As soon as I answer Todd's question, he edits it.

Sorry Mark. I didn't want to sound like a boob--I mean NOOB. Once I replied, I thought I would exert myself a little more and do a search. I found my answer pretty quick.

Thanks for the effort Mark. I'll not let you down next time.

I know it's been said many times over the last year, but the #47 RI is the guitar to have. It is consistantly the ONE guitar all my neighbors can recognize by sound alone when I'm playing on the patio and it always draws an audience. I've sent my order Al's way for an OFC mate and fully expect to plug it in often, but the #47 RI will always be my special as that "unplugged" thumper guitar.

If you get time, Todd, read all those old posts anyway. It's kind of interesting that there seems to be a guitar of the year theme.

Thanks Mark. I'll take some time in the next day or so to read more on the OFCer.

I would love to get my hands on one of these deep-bowl boomers. I think Stephen Terry has one and he's fairly close by. Maybe he would be kind enough to let me touch it--I would even wear white gloves. ;)

Unless I win the lottery, or the wife is willing to let me spend our tax return in a frivolous fashion, I'll probably not own one of these any time soon.

Then again, we are going to Vegas in a month. C'mon baby (blows on dice), daddy needs a new Adamas!! Craps out...

I wish I could get both a #47 and an OFC, but coming up with the money for one or the other is going to be tough. Find Stephen and try it out.

OK Mark, I'll give you another shot here since I'm going to bed and won't read up anymore tonight. I saw in the Adamas section of Dave's Ovation Gallery that only 12 OFC serial #s will be available--of course this is a guess based on what I saw. Can you confirm this based on what you've heard or read?

Thanks. Good night friends.

Al is planning on 12. When people said they would order one in 2004 or 05, several of them were names I don't recognize around here lately. Some of us are relative newcomers and some of those that said they wanted the OFC guitar bought #47s. They are more fortunate than me if they can get both. It seems clear that the OFC will be much more limited than the 47.

Todd, happy to have you come by and give it a strum.
Just give me a ring and we can set it up.

See why I love this board? I totally impose on Mr. Terry and he obliges--LOL. Thanks for the invite. I would try to make it tomorrow, but I'm already spending at least half the day at the Tri-State Swap Meet at the Stock Show Pavilion looking for 65 GTO parts for my dad.

Thanks for the additional info Mark. Not having seen the OFC as a finished product yet, it would be a toss-up for me as to which one to buy, aesthetically speaking. Red or blue? I'd have to see both of them first-hand to make that call. Then again, the ability to plug in the OFCer may seal the deal. And it will be one of twelve--pretty cool, too.

Sorry guys, I'll check back in to reality now. Have a great day.

StephenT's is a good place to try out different equipment. The last time I was over there, I tried out a number of his guitars. I bought one on the spot and bought a second similar model within a month later. Todd, take your wallet. Like Mark, I'm doing all I can to resist the 47RI in hopes of bagging one of the OFC models. The electronics are important to me.
