Whoever got that Adamas I 12 is going to be very very happy with it. They are easily the best 12 stings out there...

Dave, that guitar is just stunning. There must be something very special to make you part with that one.

I'll write more about the CW-28 when I get a chance. Been too busy playing it. Not too many guitars out there would have prompted me to sell this Adamas. But the Collings is something special. There's "premium" guitars like Martins and stuff that are definately the cream of the crop. And then there is this Collings that just takes it to another stratosphere. Ironically, the seller (who knows a little something about guitars) was about to put it on the block because the bought another brand of guitar, for LESS money, that he liked the sound better. He strummed them both for me and looked for that nod of approval. I nodded alright, and couldn't get the words "How much for the CW" out of my mouth fast enough.

i am grateful to have a keyboard to type with because i am totally flabbergasted and speechless.
you folks wouldn't be able to hear me blubbering anyway and i wouldn't want you to see me in the midst of losing my composure.

my daughters, my wife and i went to visit my in-laws today after church as is our custom on Sabbath afternoons. we had just enjoyed a wonderfully fattening mixture of chinese and thai food. i'm lounging on the sofa talkin' story with my father-in-law. well...actually yellin' story cuz he can't quite get used to his new hearing aids.

my wife enters the room with a guitar in her hands and says, "honey, craig (her brother)just bought this guitar from a friend and would like you to tune it up for him". she is standing behind the other sofa and i do not have a clear view of what she is holding but i do recognize a carved headstock and 12 gold tuning keys. a split second later, i recognized the most incredible 12 string adamas i have ever seen and in the same moment discovered who the mystery buyer of dave's 1688 is. i cannot describe in words the shock, the surprise, the palpitations, the utter speechlessness, the overwhelming flood of tears as i realized my wife had set me up. it literally took me 15 minutes to utter any words that were intelligible as i'm splattering the top of the guitar with salted tears of pure elation as it is resting in my lap. i can't even think about playing it yet as i am being encouraged to do so by all the family. i'm just staring at it in disbelief. ok randy...let's get on with life here!
it takes me almost half hour to tune it with shaky hands and a tuner that keeps shutting off. (shut up glenn! :D )
Heavenly angels in chorus fill the parlor with the first strum and they hang with me as i cannot put it down for the next three and a half hours.
what an incredible instrument! what an incredibly blessed man i am to have such a wonderful wife. what an incredible "ass" i have been moping around the house since the day dave posted the sale was pending. what an incredibly generous and good friend dave has been in working behind the scenes
with my wife to make this happen. dave, please sense the warmth of my gratitude.

i discovered something else this evening: the reason behind my wife's less than agreeable attitude about me buying the takamine EF75. i plead innocent! i had no clue that i was about to experience the largest surprise of my existence.
and then, if that ain't amazing enough...she tells me i can still get the tak if i want to.
my elite 1537 is sold at my asking price leaving me without a nice acoustic 6 stringer. if God opens the door, and He has, i should walk through it, and i will.
what a day! thanks for taking a few moments to share in my joy.

Well...
How cool is that?
Now if you would just fire up that cam-corder and post a video with you & that 12 string, we'd all be grateful.

Randy, welcome to the Adamas I 12 Stringer Club! You are now an owner of possibly the finest 12 string model around. My wife and friends have done similar things so I know how you feel!

Now you've got to play and record something and put it on youtube.

This was a VERY hard secret for me to keep for almost 2 weeks!

Randy, I'm thrilled for you and I'm so happy the guitar has not only stayed in the OFC, but has made it's way into your hands. When you told me that the guitar was so appealing to you because the tan and blue colors reminded you of the sands and skies of Hawaii, it almost brought tears to my eyes to have to inform you that it was sold (technically I was not telling a lie).

Congratulations my friend. Now, on to that Tak75. Your statement about God opening the door and you should walk through it? Nope, you need to RUN through it !!!

Happy Easter,

Dave

Pics of the happy couple, with a nice guitar in it, are always a nice addition to a thread like this.

Enjoy, Randy! You are blessed. Happy Easter!

neither were you telling a lie when you said, "as far as i know the buyer has never posted before." :D

mahalo, friends, for all the kind sentiments posted so far on this thread this morning. i was not dreaming as i had suspected. i woke up and the 12 string is still here at the foot of the bed all snug in its case. my wife did draw the line on where she would allow it to sleep!
