This one is killing me...I really don't want to go take out a signature loan, but knowing how few and far between these are....

It's your fault Tupp, I've started using the excuse to the wife...well, Dave bought one... :)

Actually, the worst thing is Colin's second statement about if it doesn't sell here, it will go to the bay...NOOOOOO, don't let it leave the family!

I have waited, waited and then gave up. When the opportunity did finally come, I never thought twice. You can pay back a loan, buy a car later etc....all of which can wait.

Think of it this way, all of the ones that have gone to the artists are not likely to come up for sale. The other ones floating around surfaced and they were acquired immediately by some of the members here. What is the likelihood of them selling? I will not sell. Dave will probably not sell. Mark? Probably not. Sam? You can't afford it. Bill? Unless he's sober.... You get the picture.

Does anyone else who knows Mike see the irony in that statement?

See, the slotheads are so special that it even brought playadamas our from the shadows and posting again! Seriously, Mike is right on. The few, VERY FEW, slotheads that have become available over the past 5-10 years have settled into pretty permanent homes. Of the owners I know, I seriously doubt many more of these will be changing hands and the prices will just escalate. I know mine isn't going anywhere.

Do the math. The first used one I ever saw sell on ebay went for 3500. The next one I got outbid at 4500. Then the next one I got outbid at 10500. Opportunities like this can not be passed up at any cost.

I was thinking about this yesterday. Are these home improvements something that could be handled at an OFC workday? I'm not very skilled... at much... but I'd be up for it.

You know, it's not like any of us NEEDS this guitar. It's like Clifford said, it shouldn't go over to Japan where it would disappear forever. With only 33 of these, you hate to see them put in a vault never to be seen again.

Maybe if 9 of us each coughed up a grand......

I could do a grand, it could be like a timeshare...

Hell, if I thought I could get 9 grand for the lot I'd sell all my guitars for this one.

A couple years ago, I "toyed" with the idea of putting mine up on the block. Take the money and invest in a really nice PA, speakers, maybe a custom-order O DoubleNeck . . .

. . . then I'd take it down off the wall & play it a bit . . .

. . . "nah."

What an offer! I have been gaining and loosing on setting money aside for a custom order baritone adamas I have been thinking of doing. At one time (back when I first joined) I was going to set my cash aside and build it up on the hopes that one of these original Adamas's would come up. Well I have only seen a couple of these come up for sale since I have been a member, this one is as good as any of them. What a guitar, best thing is not only the sound and beauty but the resale.............your never going to loose money on this, just look at it like your paying money to own it for a while and when you sell it you'll most likely make a little money. These are the "Holy Grail" of Ovations and there will alway be buyers for these.
Someone in the group should buy it..... I know we have some professionals who can afford one of these in here. I sure wish I could do it but I am Adamased out at 4! No more. All done.

the timeshare idea sounds good. it's the shipping from owner to owner that seems frightful.

Everybody gets to hold it for 2 months and then it moves on to the next person. We decide the order by pulling names from a hat, then maintain the schedule. You'd have it for 2 months then it would be gone for 16 months before you'd have it back.

At the end of each round, we put it up for sale within the club. If it doesn't sell, then it goes back around.
