First with the Contour Bowl. I love those guitars, except for the Nike Swoosh inlay at the 12th Fret. Just Play It.

57, a PM is a private message. If you click on a members name, you will see their profile information. There is also a link to send them a private message. When you login to the OFC and have a PM, there will be a flashing envelope notifying you that you have a PM on the lefthand side near your username.

BTW: YOU have a PM.... :D

Hiya '57,

The 2005 Collector's is one of the best looking Ovations ever put together IMHO. It is also one of the best sounding wood tops out there. The price he's asking is a good one, but you need to ask him if it is firm via a Private Message. Good luck in your search.

I love my '05 collector. I chose it as the best sounding after playing anything I could find under $2500 new. I played Martins, Taylors, Larivees, etc.., nothing I liked as well. I've been playing it for three years now and still fell I did as well for the money as I could.

still wondering if ZChord was being a goof, or if there really is a nike swoosh on the guitar? (or just saying that b/c the "collectors" banner kinda looks like a swoosh)just curious.

People have likened the inlay at the 12th fret to the Nike logo.

I don`t understand why these guitars are a bit slow to sell. They look great and while I`ve only played one I liked it a lot.

I agree. One of Ovations better ones in my opinion. It tends to slip under the radar.

The only small complaint I had was that for some reason the neck felt unusually skinny. I know it measured the normal narrow 1-11/16, but something about it just seemed small. Or maybe my hands grew.

Dave - I had one for a while and there was something funny about the neck, or the way it was set up. I didn't think it was too skinny, but the nut could have been cut a little funny. The high E was too close to the edge and slipped off alot.

I did love the contour bowl and the gloss neck. If I wasn't into Uncle Sam for a bundle, I'd be all over this one.

I have one as well and it is simply a fantastic guitar. I won't buy another O without a contour bowl. Combine the great tonal balance, awesome projection, deep bass and the extra level of comfort the contour brings... well we have a winner. The Collectors editions have great tops and my plays superbly. Nice exlectronics too!
I am amazed this has lasted on the market so long!

I have to echo those who say this is a great guitar. I "got lucky" when purchasing mine about a year and a half ago - it had been hanging on the wall at GC for over a year. I got it for under $800. Paid an additional $140 to have it refretted/set-up, and now have a sickeningly beautiful guitar that sounds as good as it looks.

Oh yeah, the Contour Bowl is perfect - can't imagine ever owning another O w/out it.

It does say "Collector's" on the truss rod cover...
