We'll see if I get it. I got a nice wider neck that would fit right on it. If someone else is serious about this I'll get out of the way but in the mean time I'm on it.

Mauvais, Would/could the factory make the exact same guitar today?

The factory can build almost anything you want. The deciding factor is what you're willing to spend. The original 1537/1547's sold for about $1200. My guess (and it's only a guess) is that to build a recreation that's really right, it would cost $3-$3500, retail.

But that is a guess......

I'd be interested in knowing just how many people are actually waiting to snipe this. I have been watching very closely also, although I don't really NEED it. Just a bit of covetousness at work in my flesh.

Well... if we told you we wouldn't really be snipers then would we ???

Nice guitar but my 1537 days are behind me. Someone else can enjoy this one.

Need has nothing to do with it. You want it and you deserve it. That should be enough. People kept asking me why I need more than one guitar and I had bunches of good answers but they never listened. "I don't need it. I want it and I deserve it" is a much more honest answer.
Besides, Beal is the last person to need another Ovation, and he's willing to step out of your way.

I had one contact me but his stopping point is less than what I've already bid so I'm still on it.
I figured this one would get played alot. I use the 1984, the 2080D, and 1581-P. Occasionally the slotheead 35. The Elite I have is the proto and it's in CT. Somewhat comical since most of you have more Ovations than I do. I need to catch up!

We could do some trading! Hey, you need to get in into those heavy shiny guitars. That's a bottomless money pit I haven't had the pleasure of enjoying yet ...

I'm willing to say I'm watching it - and want it - was desperately looking for this one - when #43 came along instead in'85...sentimental reasons - and looking for something else when taking #43 along doesn't make sense...without a buy it now - I generally do not bid until the last couple hours...

I guess time will tell who really wants it the most. Good luck to you all. What really matters is that someone here gets it. Guitars in the OFC seem to end up eventually getting passed aroound like old girlfriends. (:

Vince, tell us about how your old girlfriends got passed around. A Powerpoint presentation would be good.

I'm watching it, but that's all. You guys have at it. And, Vince, you're right. If you hang around long enough, you can usually pick up the guitar you want sooner or later from another member. Can I hear an Amen, Beggin?

Mark,
Contact GH1. Last I knew he was interested in selling his 1547 (which was originally mine) and it is a great player that I assume is still in near mint condition.

Ay Caramba! I was watching this as a snipe opportunity, but it looks as though there's already lots of gunners out there. I already have a 1537 AND there's already another six stringer in a UPS truck with my name on it so I'll watch the excitement and do everything possible not to click on any buttons in the final moments.

BTW ... I think a broccoli slothead with a wideneck walnut board would be really sweet on this body.

The wide neck I have is an Adamas 2, a very close cousin.
Now we can see how long this takes to come south. Thanks for the emails from the interested parties.
