Those Windows tarts get infected all the time then claim "Honest, I didn't interface with any other computers".

My question is, if you run Windows software on your Mac will that make it susceptible to the same viruses? Also, if you transfer all your crap from a PC to a Mac, will the viruses and trojans and worms and lice go with it? Always looking for a free education!

I've got enough experience to know there isn't one answer for everybody. I have to say, I was tempted to tweak some of those quotes from the acousticguitar.com forums and see how they flew re: the whole mac vs. pc thing just for fun.. I know 2 people on this board who went to Mac's, couldn't stand them, and went back to PC's. I've played with my wife's MacMini and it drives me nuts..... not-drdave

That partition is subject to all the normal viruses that Windows can catch. However (at least in Bootcamp, I don't know about other systems) Windows cannot "see" the rest of the hard disk and therefore shouldn't be able to infect it. You can see the Windows partition from within the Mac environment, so potentially you could drag the virus across, but you'd probably have to be doing something quite unusual and the virus would have to be able to activate under MacOS. My question is, if you run Windows software on your Mac will that make it susceptible to the same viruses? Also, if you transfer all your crap from a PC to a Mac, will the viruses and trojans and worms and lice go with it? If you transfer stuff from an infected PC to a Mac, you will likely carry a lot of the viruses and trojans etc, but they will be unlikely to be activated on the Mac. i.e. they'll be there, but dormant. Transfer the information back to a PC and whammo!

And with both fingers on the trackpad, your click becomes the right click and you don't need to bother with the Ctrl key. Both of these gestures are a bit tough coming over from Windows, but stick with it and they'll really simplify your life in the long run.

That's got all the same passion and controversy as Taylor vs. Ovation (taylor being the "pc", of course). I just wanted to explain what I'd been up to, why the CD project was a little slow (but coming along now), and that indeed you can teach an old fart new tricks. Dave PS - I need to get some of those white wires that the cool kinds stick in their ears ...

Why they call it "Windows" Good move. No shortage of Mac support here for you. Maybe we should start a group 'over there'. Yeah, some people try a Mac and give up and go back to PC. Some. ![]()

As a general philosophy, I find that the world inflicts just about as much change in my life as I care to have. Now-a-days there's just way to many choices & decisions to make. So until they don't make what fills my needs, I'll most likely be driving a Chevy and strumming an Ovation. It's just a couple little things that brings a little sense of stability to it all.
