Too bad you couldn't have been at my house for the NAMM party. Prof BB brought his custom Adamas SSB and you could have seen just how good the people in CT are.

Order the custom guitar. You'll get exactly what you want and be thrilled to death with it.

Now, what color are you thinking about and what neck? This one, 1187-7 just knocks my socks off. Beautiful.....
Thanks Moody, that's what I needed to hear. Yes, that -7 is georgeous. I told Al I wanted an 1189-8 but I want the lighter softer reverse blue burst like the 1689 below. I even want the snot glob. As far as the neck, I want a 1 7/8" neck with all the appointments of the 47RI, i.e. carved and slotted headstock, carved heal, and black strip down the back. I've never ordered a custom anything before. This is pretty exciting.

Body Type: Deep Non-Cutaway handmade fiberglass
Top: Unidirectional Carbon Graphite
Bracing: Quintad
Scale Length: 25 1/4"
Neck: Carved and slotted headstock with carved heal
Neck Finish: Natural Satin
Fretboard: Resin Impregnated Walnut
Fret Inlay: Original Adamas Design: Gold Inlay
Bridge: Carved Walnut
Rosette: 13 piece Exotic Hardwood
Nutwidth: 1 7/8"
Machines: Gold Schaller

How far is all that from the first OFC guitar design?

Nick, those specs are nice!
You might want to talk to Al about the tuners he put on the OFC2 guitars.
Best tuners I have ever had the pleasure of using!

I think ya got a winner on your hands.

Have you ordered it yet?

Thanks. I'm glad you mentioned the tuners. I'll ask Al about that when I talk to him tomorrow. I'm holding off on ordering until I get my 2008-5 back from the factory. I bought it from Al in December and it's been at the factory for repairs since the beginning of January. It due to be delivered tomorrow. I want to play it before I commit to this. :)

You'll have to let us know how you like yours. I've been really impressed with the one I have, but I've only owned/played one other Adamas I, so I'd be interested to hear your comparison with the ones you have.

Thanks Paul and Stephen, yes, I really love this beige guitar.
Even more, since I "whitened" the neck inlays. Now she's perfect!

Best regards,
Kurt

I'm still not sure why this is called beige (which I would consider a light brownish color).

To me it would be a reverse burst blue or something of that nature.

Some similarity in top color, but the OFC-I has a carved slothead with the fancy 1187 style fret markers. Your description sounds very nice, but, of course, it doesn't match the photo. With some limitations, you also have your choice of electronics in a custom order, which was very important for my particular needs.

Didn't someone call this "bluege"?

Stephen, real men barely know the names of the primary colors, so unless you really feel compelled to explore your feminine side, "light brownish" is about as far as you need to go.

I'd suggest you're still bitter about the divorce, but I used that one before.

Kurt ... I have to ask ... how did you whiten the fret inlays, and WHY would you do that? Gorgeous git by the way. I love the color. It reminds me of my 1188-7.

I like the white inlays better than the gold.

If it wouldn't most likely cause the value of mine to drop by 5K I would probably do it.

I want to add some more gold to the inlays on mine. Anyone have advice/ideas on the best way to do that?

Yup. Don't laugh, you use bowling ball engraving color sticks. I used to do this. Worked in a tennis pro shop and would engrave peoples names in their tennis rackets, skies, bowling balls etc. You engrave the letters and then fill it with a color stick (looks like a crayon). And one of the colors we had was gold sparkle. The color hardens when exposed to air. Never actually tried it on a guitar fretboard but I don't see why it would not work.

I just got a note from Al that said the factory cannot build a 1 7/8" slotted/carved headstock at this time. Kim told me the same thing earlier about putting a wide neck on my 47RI. So much for plans B & C.

If someone would like to add a 47RI to their collection, I'd still be interested in trading for a nice Adamas I wideneck and I'll open it up to include 1 3/4".
