By the time we got organized, all eight had sold so we have to look at preowned. On the plus side (for the owners), it appears these models are retaining their value.

I break my ass to get things built to have custom runs of guitars made, go through hell getting specs and details right and a used one comes up and everyone is ga ga over it yet I had a difficult time getting people to commit to them in the first place. Al, why in the hell would someone want to buy a brand new guitar with warranty ? I had 8 guitars built had 7 people commit including myself. of course I took no deposits since I believe in "my word is my bond" when I took delivery 5 of those committed backed out. oh yeah remember the guitar I sold Jerome that was on my site for 10 years and all of a sudden wow Jerome where did you ever find such a cool guitar. I think I live in an alternative universe some days.

The OFC IIs were just a little too modern for my tastes, although I recall quite a few others going gaga over them. The LAV Koas were also unique, almost too unique for my tastes, but the 12 fret wideneck seemed like something I "needed." If Ovation had come out with the 09 Collector by then, I probably would have gone for one of those instead, but Al may have prompted the introduction of the 09 by specing the LAV Koa. Anyway, just because a bunch of us lust after a guitar doesn't mean we'd pony up the cash for it. It's much safer to want one that someone else already bought. I'm calling the list of people who asked for first dibs on my Boxster if I ever sold it, but no one is ponying up now that it's for sale. That's why there's the expression, "put your money where your mouth is."
