If he won't ship to the UK, have it delivered to someone in the US and they can forward it on to you. As far as ebay visibility I don't really care one way or the other. I guess I'd like to have some chat window for stuff I REALLY want where I can say "Listen MFer, I'm gonna win this auction and I don't give a damn what it costs me, so lets save you from wasting your time and me from wasting my money - Back Off." Thought that's what the OFC was for. Dave

If I am only willing to pay $X.00 and you are willing to pay more, there is no point in me bidding the item up. Now, that kind of collaboration may annoy some sellers, but that is what the reserve is for. Personally, the last two or three guitars I've sold I just put up with a BIN... Buy it or NO. One of these days I really wanna get me a Breadwinner. And an Adamas. And a UKII. And...

This one is being recognized for what it might be, I doubt I'll end up with it. It sure does look easy enough to slip some VXT electronics in it though!!!!

I have to chuckle at sellers that are so hell bent "I Will Not Disclose My Reserve". Why not? If I'm not willing to bid that high, then what purpose does it serve for me to throw my $5 or $10 max at your auction. It's not like we're buying shit that nobody's heard of. Everybody knows what these guitars are and how much they are worth. The bargins will ne found by searching for "Ovatin" and "Adams" guitars... Dave

But if someone in the 'family' indicates they really want an item, then I'll back off. Now if an item is under-valued during late bidding and it's on my 'list', then the gloves are off. But I do respect an OFCer's openness on this site. I have no idea what anyone here is willing to bid/pay, but I personally will not jump in early to drive the eBay price beyond any known OFC bidder's capability. On the other hand, I also know what a git didn't sell for here. But don't underbid for an item that's within in my sights. The market determines the value. Ask Patch about my double winning bid via eBay since the two super gits didn't move here due to price. That's not to say the asking price here was unreasonable, just beyond most members' capabilitie$ at the time. I got sniped on a recent eBay 'O' that I really desired. But guess what? With patience and a sharp eye, I'll get one! It's the 'fever' and 'competition' that drives the prices up on Ebay. "Shake hands and come out bidding..."

It may look like a Breadwinner and called a Breadwinner, but it's not a Breadwinner. There is the little matter of the ahead-of-its time original pre-amp to concider. It's short one toggle switch, too. Tho I like the through the body string set up.

This is what I'm not sure about, it's certainly not USA for a start.

It is most likely not a single Mahogany board and likely to be the lighter Nayato(sp)wood. If it is actually a proto presentation comissioned by KM then it has its place on the wall to us Ovation homo's (thank you Jeanette) and is relatively worthless to everyone else. Just another Made in Korea 2HB 1Vol 1Tone w/3way. All of you just need to ignore it and go pick on Dave or something. I'll let you know how it works out...

Joined: December 2003 Posts: 13996 Location: Upper Left USA | From the Ebay Auction, my Q&A: Q: Can you give some history as to how you aquired it please? We are having quite a discussion over at www.ovationfanclub.com and would appreciate any info you could offer. MWoody A: Hi fishgiven, This guitar came from a friend of a friend who worked at Kaman and it was originally offered up for sale at their once a year holiday sale they do with the Kaman employees with the one off’s and / or rouge inventory that is sitting around. The fact is I am not a collector in any way and truth be told I am kind of a hack of a guitar player so I messed around with just a bit at home and put it in the case where its stayed for a few years now. It’s not one of the original (and apparently coveted) classic USA pieces but it is a cool snap shot of what could have been again. Since I keep it in a nice padded bag I have had a few questions on the case and I have never owned a fitted case and posted to this issue in my messages. Late yesterday I got the message below from a dealer and breadwinner owner who seams to know a bit more than me, so I have included his comments below for you. I think its great it has created some interest from the true fans so hopefully it will go to some one who will appreciate it for what it is. Thanks Hello, I am an Ovation dealer and Breadwinner guitar owner. I was told of these guitars a couple years ago but did not realize any has "escaped" from the factory... Good luck with your auction, I saw you were asked about the case (which are not available) weirdly enough the case for a Gretsch "Super Axe" guitar fits them perfectly, I know because I have to use one for one of my Breadwinners. I would assume there are a few more cases that will also fit. I mention this only in hopes it will help your auction. Good luck! - Bill

In the last few seconds I plan on sniping at $5K just to get it as it is part of the Ovation Solid Body history. If anyone want's it more than that.. have at it.

I've put in ludicrously high last minute snipe bids to win items, but it's a dangerous game - If I come in at £5000 (That is POUNDS) someone's going to be way out of pocket. He won't sell to me because I'm in the UK, so.... next bidder cops for it at $5K. Hmmmmmmmmmmm - Should be a fun scenario.
