Perhaps you feel a bit like my friend here -- the big man from New Jersey.

Warning possible NSFW content: language is a bit coarse around the edges.

The real test is if they can say Sequim and if they can tell when the mountains are out!

I used to be that Linguists declared the western sound to be "accent free" but over the last few years there has been a definable straining in the speech of Western Worshintonian's. Kind of a "Bill Clintonesque" scratch proliferated by soccer mom's across the NW. Wether or not it is related to Starbucks Coffee consumption remains to be seen.

Stop it, Michael! You're giving it all away! Now anybody will be able to pretend they're from here...

I'm always surprised to see how many people have trouble with Willamette. You'd think they'd cover that when they are prepping new newscasters! Or maybe they always slip it into their first TV appearances as a bit of a "right of passage."

Jeff, the $5 coffee is to finance our secret plot to secede from the Union. shhh.. don't tell, but please keep buying the coffee.

Portland aka PDX aka Rose City aka PuddleTown aka StumpTown aka "Little Beirut"

Seceeding? I thought we were annexing the rest of it...

You forgot the official town motto... "The City That Works". I laugh out loud everytime I drive by a city truck with that on the side and a couple of , um, weight-challenged city workers on the tailgate, eating jelly doughnuts.

If you guys are as busy tomorrow as you are today, we'll have plenty of time to meet. Still trying to decide which guitar to bring. Sounds like I'll use a guitar lots more than I'll use the golf clubs.
I have a friend in "Skwim". I had trouble finding it on the map. He was from Boise, via Iowa. License plate, "Hawkeye."

I am busy. Working from home and taking care of my wife.

It's not uncommon to see idiots golfing in the rain around here. Better bring your clubs... Not a good weekend for me to plan anything, Mark. Sorry, yet again.

I thought Hawkeye came from Crabtree Cove, Maine?

Shouldn't they revise those trucks to say:

"The City that Works (see footnote)"

footnote: Unless you are referring to schools, city management, police integrity, water bills, etc, etc etc.

Hey, at least our state motto isn't, "Say WA!"

True. It should be, "What were we thinking when we elected him(or her)?"

But our State Song is Louie, Louie!

The only song with fewer known lyrics than Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit"!

What is Weird Al up to these days?

You were nearly named the State of Jefferson!

Your State Song would be "Mov'in on up"!

I let my wife listen every once in a while. :) Just a hobbyist, purely for self development and entertainment.

I've had a spotty past with the guitar. I've owned one since '67. Every couple of years i'd get on a 6 month kick -- get frustrated with lack of development -- quit. Repeat.

Three years ago i say's to self, "self you're getting kind of old. Do you want to be able to play that thing before you die?" To which i answered, "yes".

So i interveiwed with a number of teachers, picked one and have stuck with him. Great thing about teachers; 1)they teach (DOH!) 2)they engender accountability.

So i have been playing about, oh, 6 to 15 hours a week (depending on my schedule) for the last three years or so.

We had an Aunt that started walking 5 miles a day about 2 years ago.

We don't know where the hell she is now!

I am so glad it is Friday!
