I just sent him an email asking if he could tell me what the resale value was on this guitar. I can't wait to see if he takes the hook.

[QB] Just e-mailed the guy and told him it wasn't worth half of what he was asking.

I got it back. He said I wasn't worth half that amount. LoL

Maybe somebody should email him the URL to the Millenium that just went off the auction block last night .... See if he thinks that box of his compares to that one.

Took out a loan for it but never practiced with it..... just cracks me up. Since when were guitars not meant to be played?!?!?

The "flagship" of his collection that he never hardly used. Yeah... makes a whooooole lotta sense.

Agreed, Sally. How would you even know it's your flagship if you've only played it four times?

Somebody must've told him it was...

I love Ovations, but if this is the 'flagship' of his collection of 50 classical guitars, I guess he has 49 other pieces of crap.

Too bad he isn't doing the "best offer" thing...

I'd throw $100 at him.

Ican't believe this guy! Here's his response when I asked him what the used value on the guitar was ... (he answered my email right away with this ...)

"It all depends on the condition of the guitar.
A typical Ovation like this in average condition after 30 years might bring as little as 1,500., on the other hand, an Ovation like this one in Like New condition can range as high as 3-4 grand. Its always a subjective value according to the collector, the supply & the demand."

What a Loser!!!

Hey! Let's see who can ask him the most outrageous question, and who can provoke the best answers from him.

While that would be extremely funny, it wouldn't give a good image of the OFC.

Agreed.

We've been bad. Very baaaaaaaaad.

For the record, I didn't email him yet (because I was getting some work done!)...

I guess it was just a humorous idea to take a little frustration out on this guy instead of a few customers that are making me crazy today over really petty stuff.

I'll behave now.

Still has the Original Ovation Strings and they still Look & play like New
Gotta wonder about someone trying to sell a nylon string guitar for 5 times it's value, and bragging that it has 30 YEAR OLD STRINGS on it.

I think we should report him to Ebay for gross stupidity.

The really sad thing about all this is that there is probably some really ignorant person out there that would fall for all this. I really believe this guy is just fishing for someone like that.

Well, Ebay itself is a reputable business. I'm sure they wouldn't want themselves associated with this kind of creep. Maybe just a little "Word in someone's ear" (with a link to this thread?) would convince them to boot this vendor.....

Whereas this guy is definitely a low class creep showing very bad decorum, at BEST -- i doubt that what he is doing is against eBay rules or anything.

It would be sad if anybody fell for this type of tactic -- but "there's a sucker born every day" and plenty of sharks to eat them -- just the way it is.

Just my opinion, but i just shake my head and move on. Why waste any time on it?

Ya gotta wonder if he kept that baby up there for about 3-4 months if someone might just bite?

Seriously. It's a numbers game.

As far as eBay being a "reputable" business... I'd like to know exactly what the definition of "reputable" is. If it means "big" - Yes.

Otherwise, I think eBay has got to be about as evil of a business (or more so!) as most pawn shops.

Shapespeare.

I suppose a lot depends on your point of view. I've only ever bought stuff from pawnshops, never pawned. Might make a difference of opinion.

I guess I don't understand the ruckus really. Beauty (and value) are in the eyes of the beholder. I think $30,000 for an old Fender or Gibson is ridiculous.

What Antiques Road show....yikes the price people are willing to pay for...Junk.

Or my buddy who bought a 69 Z-28 for over $30K. I am like, man you could have bought a relatively new Vette for that much money.

If the guy sells it, more power to him. If he doesn't, he can always console himself that he still owns his $2500, $400 guitar.

Ebay is all about the ridiculous sometimes...

My deal with pawn shops is that you ***know*** that alot of the stuff is stolen.

I've never bought from one.

Yes....he's STILL trying to sell this guitar. Came down almost 1k!! I had asked him about the $300 case and this was his response: "This is a Custom made case from the Ovation Factory for that Classical Electric Ovation Guitar." Maybe an offer of $500 will take guitar and case home.
