Joined: June 2003 Posts: 1792 Location: Rego Park, NY, | Hello Everyone, I must tell you that I am very honored to have received this award. I was surprised when Brad asked for a mailing address to send me something. I PM Brad to day because I saw that the shipping weight was 11.10 pounds. I asked Brad if it was a fresh shipment of coconuts or a library of XXX DVD's that he was finished with ;) . I saw the label with my name and year on the first fret and thought that it was removable. Don't worry Brad, I realized quickly that it was permanent. I told Brad that I will try to post some pictures this weekend of me with the trophy. Thank you all for your kind words. Phil

A while ago I took custody of the "booted Celebrity" from the '05 tour. I kept thinking that it might be cool to have it make a yearly appearance at the tour. Well, it was taking up room and my wife started to count it as a real guitar so I got the idea of a Stanley Cup type trophy that would change hands every year at the tour. I got permission from Miles and Al and took the trusty dremel to the Booted Celeb. I could not get the neck seperated from the body. Enter Tupperware. With the help of Dave and Master Keller, I obtained a great looking UTE neck. This started off being more of joke type trophy but with that beautiful neck, the standard was raised. I could not possibly use the bridge from the Celeb with that wonderful ebony fret board! Then it just had to have strings and a volume knob! Al pitched in with the machine heads. Kim Keller came up with a bridge and saddle. Then this project started to cry out for some abalone work. I don't have the skill but I know someone out west who does! I sent the piece to Woody and he worked his magic. He also provided the classy TRC and the volume knob. Thanks for all the help guys! After that it was a little sawing, sanding, a half a bottle of Gorilla Glue, and there ya go. I had concidered Phil right from the start but I was not alone in making that choice. The honor of being in the first fret postion has its drawback though. Phil will have to pass the trophy to the next honoree in about 6 months. We are trying to work out an award selection mechanisim. Nothing firm has been decided but we do want the current holder of the award to be part of the process in deciding where it goes next. But that is a ways down the line. Let's let Phil bask in his moment.

I'm honored to be in on this one. Everyone needs a little hint of Bling now and then. I believe Brad used Oak on the body, so it should last another hundred or so years! Actually, in 11 more frets it should be retired to the Engineering Wall at CT and be replaced with another inspirational piece.

No one is more capable of jumping in front of a crowd of people admiring guitars, take a picture and disappear, leaving them blinking and blinded and wondering, "Who was that Asian man? I'll kill him if I get my hands on him!" Yes, Phil, you're always there. In front. Blocking the view, in your quest for the perfect group shot. Waiting patiently for your prints to return from the far side of the continent, you bear the abusive cries of "WHAT? You send your film to HOLLYWOOD for developing???" Leading the caravan of happy, tired, somewhat groggy OFC brethren from the far reaches of Connecticut back to the haven of the Homewood Suites. ("You are off course. You are off course. Turn back. Turn back. ") And we, your adoring fans (of whom you have many compromising photos), salute you. You have finally received the recognition you deserve, in a form that is least likely to cause anyone harm. We luv ya, Philly!

I have to say what I have seen in the photo's Phil has taken has been enlightening! The photo's are of good enough quality and the images captured are of such content that I may never go to one of the gatherings now. Phil your work tells a pretty scarry story, and in great graphic detail! All kidding asside Nice work. Enjoy. Randy
