Iffy, glad the operation was a success and that you are out of pain for now (get them to give you one of those push button pain management systems or PBPMS) and no hopscotching for a awhile. Scotching as needed for pain is OK though.

We will be expecting you to do a jig in Gainesville.

Rest easy Buddy.

So Iffy, whenever we finally meet, be sure and bring your Xrays. I'll try to find some of the plate and screws in my left arm. From soccer of all things. My regular doctor was an orthopod. I never got sick, I just broke stuff. He said he was just a fancy carpenter who charged a lot for the hardware he put in you.
I hope you have the good luck that I did with mine. I wish I could use mine as an excuse for my bad playing, but it affects me about as much as yours will. Get a good physical therapist.

Iffy, you're in my thoughts and prayers my friend...and a note from someone who knows: maintaining the pain medicine regement is very important...they make it for a reason and this is one of them...heal fast and take care of each other!

I know all about the "Medical Duo" stuff; I had fallen and fractured my left patella (knee cap) and was casted from hip to ankle; at just about the same time, Jack got hurt at work and fractured his jaw, resulting in having his mouth wired shut. We immediately became the world's most unusual song-and-dance team--I could sing, he could dance!
Glad to hear things went well; we wuz all rootin' for ya!
Important--in the future, you'll need to let drs. know you have the hardware--MRIs are not good for people loaded with metal.........and airport security isn't gonna like you too much, either.
Here's a hug,

Yes but you need to tell the pilot that you're better at forecasting bad weather.

Glad everything's worked out well. Follow your doctor's orders, don't be afraid to take pain meds, and get into physical therapy - and stick with it! - as soon as the doc says to. As a far too frequent orthopedic patient I know what I'm talking about ;)

Best wishes for a speedy recovery. lady stonebobbo stumbled and fractured her fibula and tibia 10 weeks ago. Same sort of deal ... plate and 8 screws for the fibula and two screws in the tibia. This week she is finally allowed to put some weight on the leg and is beginning to hobble without crutches. It does take time but modern medicine is truly amazing.

It ain't going to be fun when the nerve block wears off. Revel in the miracles of modern pharmacology when they're offered. ;) . Our own Dr Phil or mitchrx can attest to the wonders of chemistry.

The upside is that we get really good parking places these days.

Think I may have figured out what caused Iffy to crash Saturday night. Y'see, Air Force guys are wired a little different than us earthbound types. And when Iffy was going to the truck Saturday night it was damned dark. So, not being able to see he was naturally cruising "on instruments". Well, his feet were doing just fine until his finely tuned USAF trained senses suddenly detected that, "Hey! We're at 3800 feet!" and told the brain to pull up the landing gear. Oops.

Flyboys do have some history of conflict with mountains. ;)

Glad to hear that things are going well with the repairs, Iffy.
Here's wishing you a speedy healing process!!

OK, long story short ( I hope). Pain meds weren't working well at all. Went to ER yesterday early AM for an injection. Now on highest safe dosage with minimal effect.

Coming out of that nerve block was pure HELL! And that was with taking the pain meds ahead of time to minimize the pain.

After fifteen hours of off/on sleep I do feel somewhat rested this morning and the swelling has reduced just a bit. We'll see...

To put things in perspective, I have a boxed Ovation I received sitting in the LR that I haven't even opened! ... hopefully today. Pics later...

I normally don't like to post negatives, but I've had so many kind inquiries I felt I owed ya'll an honest response.

Again, thanx for the well wishes!!!

Hang in there buddy!

When it's all over we will make up a fantastic story about you chasing a man eatin bear, along a frozen mountain top, in order to protect your OFC bretheren. After years of telling the story it will become factual. Hell, what do I know, I think that the story is true now and you are being your modest self. Afterall, I was asleep in a frozen tent, so any version could be true!

Rest easy, I will work on a song to match the story....working title: Iffy and the Bear.

On a cold wintery night, high up in tha hills
a mountain of a bear was lookin for thrills
He heard the sound of Adamas and arrived in a jiffy
what he wasn't expectin, was a man they called Iffy

Y'all get the picture...add your own prose!

Through the steely dark night, their eyes shown like bright embers
which one charged first has become hard to remember
Teeth gnarled, claws bared, loud growling was heard
It must have been Iffy cause the bear dropped a turd

Beggin,

You need to add a verse about the Trader, Iffy, and Gway traveling up from Florida.

What the bear had been eatin' is in question still;
When Iffy's foot hit that patty, he slid down the hill.
Like a skater he glided with the greatest of ease,
Soon to find that his foot was turned ninety degrees.

That's the spirit Jas!

'ol Iffy couldn't let two left feet stop him
he couldn't walk so he reached for a limb
the bear smelled pain and was filled with joy
when off of the porch came 'ol TRBoy

in his hand was something more fearful than stick
it was an instrument of steel, that you sometimes could pick
he looked at the bear and said, "you have a purdy mouth"
well the bear was afraid and hightailed it south

Chorus:

seemed that bear had been round those woods for awhile
he knew better than approach a man with a smile
add a man with two left feet and that was enough
no bear in those woods was ever that tough
