McCartney does a very touching rendition of "Something" solo on the ukelele (as he did on his last tour), but when it gets to the guitar solo, the whole band kicks in with Clapton doing Harrison's solo (with his own inflections) that just gives you "douche chills". Fabulous!! Supposedly it's now being compiled into a DVD and possible CD. Something to look forward to.

Plus it comes with a DVD that shows them recording the songs in the studio. The DVD is great for any musician. --Mike

I wouldn't be playing if it wern't for that concert. I still have my first guitar but not the girl I took to the concert. I also like the style of George Harrison.

Runs through the pallette of guitars that were used (during specific eras) and sheds some light on some recording "tricks" that were used. Interesting read. btw: While there is no "mention" of Ovations, there is the stock photo of Macca and his CLegend, and directly across from an article of the true "genius" (George Martin), there is a full page ad for the LX . .

Awww, man...did you have to? Everyone knows that it was Lennon until Yoko got her hooks into him and it's been McCartney since then. Maybe Harrison would've turned out to be something more if it weren't for that meddler Clapton (don't you just want to know if it was worth it? I mean, other than inspiring 'Layla?')! All things considered, there is only one *man* and we all know it's Al. Who's the guitar sellin' pimp That's an 'O' machine to all the chicks? (Al!) Ya damn right!

How about Let Me Roll It (no, cliff, he's not talking about a joint!) and Jet ? However, I will say that after London TOwn, McCartney sank into writing for the sake of padding his IRA. Now -- you see him in concert, and there's none better.

I am finding some of the stuff I like from the Beatles, that I always thought was Lennon's, was actually McCartney's. They were majic when they were together Hey.. (The Fab 4) right? Just like the Main Yes members (The fab 5) when those musicians are together it is like they gain an extra man or something? Must have been something to have lived a life as a phenomenon! Randy

I've always liked Ringo's personality, John and Paul's voices, and have always considered George to be one of the most underrated guitarists. But, for the record: John Lennon- my favorite Beatle. George Harrison- one of my favorite people. Bill (Beatlejuice)

I see the Beatles as a group entity, each contributing his own personality to the whole. One or the other comes forward and then recedes as you listen to their music, but no one totally dominates the show. When Paul, George and Ringo took John's unfinished songs/tapes and finished them several years back for the Anthology series, it was obvious that John was missing. It just sounded like they had taken John's songs and voice and finished them their way. Which they had. To me, separating John and Paul is like the Star Trek episode where Captain Kirk is split into his two halves, one soft and indecisive, one almost animal-like and cruel. Same effect. They needed each other to be truly balanced and whole. Roger

I guess if I had to pick one, it would be Paul. Maybe it was because when they came to the US in 64, I was 21, married, and a father. In other words, I was occupied with other things. My taste runs more to Chuck Berry, Clapton, Lynard Skynard, ZZ Top, Eagles, B.B. King, and so on. Thanks for letting me get that off my chest! noel

The Beatles were slightly before my time (but I remember heir music on the radio all the time which is probably why they were such an influence on me) but I was a big Wings fan in the 70's (Band on the Run, Venus & Mars era). Also Wings were the first big group I ever got to see...and when McCartney did un unplugged set (same as Wings over America set) he was playing an Ovation and the rest is history! Lennon and Harrison follow closely in that order. I was too young to remember where I was when JFK died, but I will always remember the time when I first was told that John had been killed. Also...Elvis. Cheers Terry

For me it was McCartney,It started when i was learning stuff off of Wings Over America, Lennon-It started with The Rock-N-Roll release and then i wen t back and discovered some other great releases. I really Liked Double Fantasy. Just about anything Harrison Did Was Great in My Book, And Then There's Ringo...He had some good stuff too -it was just Different From Everyone Else. Maybe that's why I liked Him. I guess to sum It up..It's All Ice Cream. You're always going to get a Different Answer to This Question. That's what makes this such a great Post.

I thought Spector added some interesting influences to their stuff. I find their music extremley beautiful conveyed instramentally. I think yesterday...and Imagine are beautiful on the guitar

I have always loved everthing about them, music persona, lives, guitars. So I guess I like Lennon's dry wit sense of humor smart-ass approach to life/music. His vocal on A day in a life, as George Martin has said, "send chills down your spine." McCartney is one of those people you either love or hate! He is a die-hard showman and king of the schmaltz too. I agree that George was underated. In the old days he had a nack for some really bad solos, and a talent for some really clever and beatiful ones too. Ringo is also underated and in my opinion takes too much crap for being "lucky!" I have said enough, but when it come to music it is all relative when it come to our opinions, like butt-holes, we all have one! Fun thread.
