Stephen,
Lady Noah sniped it as a surprise gift for me. I was only watching it.

Anyone looking at the bidding history is going to set their reserve accordingly...?

What an awesome wife Lady Noah is!

My wife "allows me :p " to most times support my GAS but she would NEVER get online and buy one for me.

GREAT GRAB by the way!!!! Glad the guitar went to an OFC member!

The reserve price is nowhere near as high as the buy it now price I told you I was planning to post. If I had a buy it now price it would have to be high because There is no telling where the bidding will go.

dleegblue ... nice! $1475 for the Limited. Maybe the solid bodies are finally getting the recognition they deserve. Sorry you had to let it go, but at least it was no fire sale.

And it also stayed in the family since the fellow who bought it is one of our Italian members.

I have a new question about this sale. The buyer has asked me to declare this a gift on the paper work. I assume he is doing this to save money. Is there any risk for me in doing this?

It happens all the time. But it is wrong! Please do not compromise yourself!

The Frenchman is asking you to break your Country's Laws for his financial gain. You compromise yourself, you take the risk, and he saves money… just so you can sell your guitar.

It is bad enough that circumstances have forced you to sell this guitar. Now, to facilitate the sale you are asked to compromise yourself. You brought it up on the board because it bothers you. Sometimes we have no choice but to compromise our values to survive… BUT NOT THIS TIME!

Tell the Frenchman that he is disqualified because he is asking you to commit a crime.
Return his money.
Turn his emails over to eBay and they will back you.
Get your credits from eBay, etc.

I will “buy” the Limited. I will safeguard it until it can return home.
I will make sure that your net is the same as it would have been with the Frenchman.
Your Limited will hang in our Music Room next to the one Lady Noah bought me.
When you are ready to have your Limited back, just return the funds.

There is always another way... we just have to find it.

You guys are ruining all of dubya's pr work of recent years.

Noah, you are amazing.

dlee
You could rat the guy out to French Customs for attempted fraud. You might get an expenses paid trip to the trial.

Noah, you are truly a good guy!

At one time when I was in dire financial straits, I had a friend who did (with my SlotHead) exactly what you're offering to do.

If I were wearing a hat right now, I'd tip it to you . . . .

Thank you for your support gentleman!

Lady Noah is just getting up (7am on the West Coast) and does not yet know that I have pledged to “foster” yet another guitar, nor is she aware of the pending reallocation of retirement funds into this new investment called “Someone Else’s Honor and Self Respect”.

I am confident of approval. Lady Noah, in the Corporate World was responsible for Export Compliance for an International Company.

I was one of the members to advise dleegblue that if he was going to sell the Limited, he should put it up for auction. Watching as Jim gave up his FD14 yesterday just struck a cord. When I re-read this thread, I had missed how it started, “Circumstances are forcing me…”.

I have written dleegblue personally and I hope he accepts. Posting in the forum was to let dleegblue see that I am on the level and also let the Frenchman know my disgust.

A happy wife is a wonderful thing to behold.

Noah, obviously, you don't have kids in the house, or dogs. Otherwise, nobody would be sleeping until 7 pm.

You're right across the I5 from me.

Thank you Noah,

It is truely a wonderful offer you make. I will still sell it to the French guy but won't declare it a gift. I don't see being able to buy it back anyway and then you would be stuck with it hanging on your wall.

I have lost my job and had to take another one doing the same thing at almost half the pay. My wife and I got divorced recently and now I have to get my child support payments adjusted to reflect my lower income level. On top of all this a hospitial bill that occured when my then 1 year old son was bitten by a scorpian last year is not fully covered by the insurance and I had to come up with nearly $400 immediatly. I tell you this because I want you to know why I had to sell it to him. I have his money already and have spent some of it.
