From what I've heard and read, not if we can keep Dave away from the chili and Mexican food!

It all depends on what your idea of "a blast" is.

Hey, be kind. I have no "problems" with Florida mexican or Texas mexican food. And of course Arizona mexican is the REAL deal (god bless the border patrol). It's just that friggin California mexican food that goes through me like a damn farerri on steroids. I'm sorry but you don't make burritos with brae cheese, farm raised salmon and spinach. Dave

Dave is dead on with his description of the mess the Californians call Mexican food.

TexMex for me followed by Arizona mex. Most of the rest blows....

Airline reservations finally made. Not many options for the wallet challenged. Found a direct flight on Frontier for $305 RT, but the schedule is for the nocturnal. Mauvis, any recommendations on ground transportation between JAX and Amelia Island?

The 417 has received some good press here. I'm always up for trying out any model about which the members are cheering.

i ain't gonna be able to make it. i found out last night that due to extremely low hotel occupancy rates (37% currently) here on big island, all the musicians working for one of the agencies i am booked with are layed off until further notice. also, the second agency i work for had planned an entire new production at a major resort which was going to keep us with steady work. that resort was just acquired by another group of investors and indefinitely placed the production on hold.
normally, this is convention season here and we have more gigs 4-6 nights per week. we are lucky to get two a month now.
i really think this is a symptom of all the travel costs, red-tape and crapola. companies are choosing to hold their meetings closer to home or in las vegas rather than hawaii. at any rate, as beautiful as hawaii is, it is not a pretty picture for us musicians or any of the hospitality industry workers now.
waskel, i am glad it worked out for you to room with mike and jim.

It's OK Randy, I never got your check anyway.

Brad, the clinic starts Friday morning. Singer/songwriter night is Wednesday and there's rumors about golf on Thursday and I'm sure we can find someplace to play guitars Thursday night.

Scooters are included in the cost of the hotel, so I think I'll spend Thursday scootin'. Anybody up for a trip to the Keys?

I don't know what my schedule is yet. All I really know is that I'm coming. I'd love to play golf on thursday.

I think someone said that the clinic was Fri/Sat/Sun.

Unca Beal, can you tell us the schedule of the clinic. I guess it would help for planning the return trip.

The Calendar section on the HornyFish's webpage shows Fri-Sun, but I would assume that the Sunday-thing'll just be an impromptu follow-up/summary/hangover relief that'll just be the early part of day.

Correct me if my presumption is incorrect, Beal.

That's right. Friday and Sat are the big days. Sunday is only half and it's whatever. I really think Matt is looking to ya'll for direction on what you want. I don't think you want to leave Sat night, it will be a big time but missing Sunday probably won't hurt.
I'm working on Joe to book Matt there at the Frickinmermaid for Saturday night. I'm sure that there will be ample opportunity for "Play along with Matt".
