To bad for me that I thought this was going to take place in New Jersey. From what I had read this was the indication? Kim's place is just an hour & 45 for me instead of the 4 hours or more to Jersey and the overnight.
Alrighty then.......

North Country,

Probably one of the caveats of working with the Witness Protection Agency. A note for future outings would be to check in with the Party Coordinator.

So we have had an OFC Factory, OFC NW, OFC NE and an OFC SW gathering this year, correct?

Let me throw in the OFC Tour de France.

Are the SE people going to let a few Hurricanes get in their way?

Ah Yes - Jerome is very observent. That's actually a custom made soprano ukulele (2 were built). They were not made by Ovation but somehow were built on Ovation bowls. It's an interesting story and a very interesting uke.

I can't download my photos yet (still on the road) but I've got plenty. And Jerome, some VERY SPECIAL ones for you! The event was absolutely amazing. These just keep getting better and better. I had two wonderful surprises (three including the uke) that showed up at this event. If you look hard at the photo of the guitars you'll spot them. I was SHOCKED and (for once) speechless. My face hurts from smiling for 10 hours. There'll be plenty of stories and photos to come.

Jeff's cutaway U681 is AMAZING. That configuration needs to go into production. What a winner it would be. Bill's Baritone was, well, what can I say... it's just one in a long history of masterpieces. Totally impressed me. Kim had a circus show of odd stuff on hand including (as I predicted, by the way), woodgrain finished roundback balladeer. Lots of other cool stuff. I played someones LX 12 string that was incredible (sorry, I forget who owns it). Cliff's slothead of course. And plenty of other really cool gear.

BUT... the event was not really about the guitars. It was the people who made it a great time. Actually I didn't play all that much. Weren't you glad? Too busy just hanging with everyone. It was great that so many came long distance (Moody from CA, Temp from GB, Jeff, Jason, all the folks from NY and NJ. Total GAS. Huge kudos to PHIL again for donating his time and energy do photos. Phil, you truly are a wonderful asset to the gang. WE APPRECIATE IT! Having Al and "mystery companion" (can I mention it?) show up was just wonderful. Many myths about Al were dispelled and now it ALL MAKES SENSE. She's a Saint. And BILL - it would not have been the same without you. As always you have a way of grounding us before we take ourselves too seriously. Your new toy is amazing and what can I say about the special delivery exept THANKS!

Amy, Kim, Cliff, Janette - You guys are just super. The hospitality was amazing. The catering, everything. WOW! I would just have to say that it was as perfect of a day as I've had in a long time.

I'm still on a high. Take care, travel safe and THANKS AGAIN TO ALL WHO WERE A PART OF THIS!

Dave

dave of course is skimming the surface.

Brad, I did know about the event. I just did not know if my crazy schedule would allow me to make it. Well, I was told that I HAD to attend, so I made sure nothing was happening for Saturday and make the trip up to Neptune with my wife Suzipep.

We were the first to arrive. As we fumbled around the truck getting out guitars and stuff, Cliff pulled up, followed by Jeff W and a few minutes later CWK. As I turned around saying hellos and geting out gear, I see this brit with a twisted smile in front of me saying "hi al" I was shocked to say the least. I had no clue Paul was going to make it. It was great to see him and Susan.

CWK and Kim had a vast collection of guitars and the rest that were brought by others just made the whole thing right. A special surprise was had by Dave and although I have never seen the man without a smile this day it was from ear to ear all day long. He can tell you about his surprise himself.

Amy was a gracious hostess, great food and a warm friendly atmosphere. Kim was his usual charming self. He even made me be part of his road crew to assemble the PA. I think we were just in awe of guitars and enjoying each other for HOURS before anyone picked up an instrument to seriously play and then it was non stop jamming.

JohnB has a great voice too good for his rendition of "tangled up in blue". I was on the sidelines singing the dylan cadences.

I finally got to meet Rick in person and thank him for the kindness he bestowed on me a few years ago. I mean it I will always feel in debt to you and thanks once again.

Phil's viper (car) was a hit. when he left, I could smell the fumes as he roared off. WOW. Great to see you agin Phil and we will again swap JackF stories.

It was a pleasure to see Mitch and to meet Jason who came all the way from FredericK MD. and I am sure I am missing some folks here. (was moody even there?)

yes even old fumble fingered, frog throat, himself (me) was coaxed up to the mic to do a few tunes. I was able to get Sue up to play some bass and she did a fine job. (If I known she would have played I would have packed her viper bass)

This is the first event my wife Sue was able to attend. So yes the rumors that she does not exist are false (but how do you know I just did not go to rentabim for the day?)

A big thanks to everyone, this was a fun time after a summer of pain and it was GREAT to play some guitar, have some laughs and share some food and drink with some great people.

well, I am tired, my throat is sore from non stop talking and laughing , and i need some rest.

Do the music!!!!

I also had a great time yesterday. It was great to finally be able to put some faces with the screen names. I would like to add my thanks to Amy and Kim for their hospitality and for all of the hard work that they obviously put in to this event. Also, I would like to especially thank Cliff, without whom I wouldn't even be a member of the OFC. (Yes everyone it's HIS fault). I had a great time hanging out and jamming with all of you. I hope to see you all again soon.

BTW, Dave...that was my 12 string that you were playing. So you're the one who killed my strings!! ;)

I thought the event was in Conn.
My mistake. I read it wrong, Sorry Amy... I thought Kim hosted this.

Thanks Al for the correction. I missed a good one no doubt.

Well, I'm back home. A fast trip to Jersey, and then home again. Was it worth it? Hell yes!

While the guitars were great fun to see and play, the people are the reason I went. Kim, Amy, Cliff, Jeanette, Paul, Susan, Dave, Bill & Loraine, it was great seeing all of you. And then to find that people like Jeff W., and Mitch, and Phil, and Phil, and otheres were there was just icing on the cake.

Thanks one and all. Now I gotta go get some sleep.....

By the way, Jeff's custom ordered Adamas (12 fret, wide neck, mid depth bowl, 47 RI top) was killer! I agree with Dave.. Ovation should make it a standard guitar. All the greatness of the Ute, but a cutaway, and a bass that's been tamed just a bit. I loved playing that guitar.... even with the gay looking "outtie" epaulets.

Not that there's anything wrong with that......

What an awesome day! Huge thanks to Kim and Amy for having us 'cause we all know how rowdy it can get with the Jersey crew!! :D Saw some old faces and met some new ones and as always it was a pleasure. There just seemed like there was a good vibe in the air the whole day, and the weather held up nicely. I cant wait to see all the pics that were taken as they were some really "interesting" moments. I have to say as far as guitars go, Jeffs new custom really rocked! That was surely one of the guitar highlights of the day. Thanks again to all who made it possible and Temp, it was a real treat that you came all the way here and got to visit scenic NJ. :D
BTW Bill, if you make the next factory tour i'll be sure to bring the car and let ya take it for a spin out the hills. Thats guaranteed a good time!!

Love the video! If I may fill in a few names for some members who have yet to meet the Easy Coast troop, Cliff sounds great on #54 and vocals, as always, with Temp on slide and Tuppy on uke; JeffW, appropriately trying desperately to tune a flamer (apparently someone had the good sense to take his custom made classic away from him in time); Moody, loving the three chord blues in the background, and CWK2 enjoying a beverage and the carnage from the rear. A few others I must apologize as being not sure on the names but it looks like a great time was being had by all.

MAN!! ISBT...
