I wish her a safe transit to Japan and am looking forward to your playing report. Thanks so much d'ovation! Yup. Most definitely a big decision, but I know I'm not going to regret this! And thanks for the "hefty congratulations" Love O Fair. I was just so lucky with the timing and all that. My heartfelt apologies to those of you who are still waiting for order fulfillment. If its of any consolation, I still will have to wait anywhere between 3 to 6 months before I ever lay hands on #10 too. May all the 50th Os and 40th As arrive safely to their appointed destinations! Thanks OFC!

Maybe there are not more than 25 of each.... which I could not believe in, why not numbered from 1 to 50 ? Did you purchase yours in Europe or in USA? @ Nancy In former times Limited Editions and Collectors Series which were numbered, were sold with an CoA which states that this special Specs will not be produced again..... Bernie Sorry for the delay of my reply but I wasn't at home this week end and I sent my previous message from the train station in Paris. First, congrats to Arumako for this wonderful Ovation, I had one in hands and she looks as nice as she sings!! In reply to bburg, I asked to the factory and they replied "E" stands for Europe. Here's a picture of Adamas 1198 AV40E #1. That story of number is not really important to my eyes, I'm more interested with this fantastic models. The FD14 is simply stunning. J

By the way, thanks for the YouTube videos and for responding to my inquiries on the 1678AV50-5! Incredible! Thanks for sharing! Oh, and I read the cool story behind the picture on the OFC FB page! Very cool! I hope you all sell all 50 units in Europe! Edited by arumako 2016-08-29 6:14 PM

I haven't even played it more than a couple hours. As soon as I can get some pictures I'll post them. This is the acoustic-only version with no electronics. The quality of workmanship is really impressive. For this kind of money one does expect the highest level of materials both in terms of appearance and function. Everything about this guitar is luscious. The top is what sold me on this particular model, the deep red gloss on top of the carbon fiber. Pictures cannot do it justice. The guitar itself is very light weight compared to my other guitars. Two are older deep bowls and are heavier than modern LX guitars, and the other is an Adamas 2080 deep contour. This new 1198 is lighter but not neck heavy at all. Might there be a lighter weight truss rod than in the 2080? Whether it is the 12 fret to body design or perhaps a lighter truss rod, idk, but it does balance nicely on the knee. As to the tone, it is different than all my other Ovations and Adamas. As such it isn't a duplicate and I'm not feeling any need to thin the herd. I would describe it as precise and, maybe, delicate. As with the 2080 the notes are all clear and distinct when playing a chord. In contrast, the 2080 is big and bold, wanting to be played energetically. The 1198 seems to want a lighter touch and a thinner pick, or fingerstyle. Think Jim Croce and James Taylor on the 1198 (if only I could play like them!). The bowl is resonant, so despite being light weight it has nice sustain and an even attack on the notes. In the studio I bet this would be a nice guitar to mic.

Thank You Cliff, what are the odds of that piece of grain being the precise length, and in the exact place needed to make it a 6?? Edited by Nancy 2016-08-30 10:19 AM

I really like the black headstock and the layered heel! Wonder how it'll look with gold buttons....

Wonder how it'll look with gold buttons.... The black buttons look and feel like ebony. I have both gold and pearloid buttons on some other tuners. When I change the strings, I can put them on and take a pic of each. Personally, I like the ebony and probably will keep them on the guitar. Edited by DanSavage 2016-09-08 2:40 PM
